The PS3 price drop is one of the many nuclear weapons that Sony has secretly tucked away in it's arsenal and it's about to be unleashed. After months and months of requests, after a slow holiday season the price cut may only be a few weeks away according to many retailers, analysts and the majority of the industry, it's appearing on websites, google, PSXExtreme etc. Devleopers recently almost threatened Sony for a prce cut.
If this and when this price cut should com into place a few questions remain un answered like:
How much does Sony loose now? or Can Sony afford it?
Well what if Sony is secretly lowering the price of production and keeping it all a secret. It is possibe, everything is possible, the so called impossible just takes longer!
I doubt that Sony will cut the price without being able to make a profit, they are obsessed with making profit and always have been.
With Blu-Ray players coming in at $/€ 199 and the upcoming production of the 45nm CELL BE and RSX and cheaper components also on the way it's hard to belive that there won't be a price cut in the coming months.
Or if Sony can't afford it then they still have another trick up their sleeve... Hardware revision like with the 40GB version but there are no rumors about that so let's let it pass.
