I thought this was an interesting list, especially since some seem to deem the DS the handheld for RPG's.

Chrono Trigger 92
The World Ends with you 89
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time 86
Pokemon Pearl 85
Pokemon Diamond 85
Final Fantasy IV 85
Dragon Quest V 84
Lunar Knights 82
Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard 82
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon 82

I find it it odd that less than 5 of them are Square-Enix published.  I also find it odd that 4 are published by Nintendo.  Comments?

Nobody uses metacritic in JRPG discussions.

I think a lot of people know why, too. It lurks at the edge of consciousness, waiting to be unleashed and destroy the veracity of metacritic in terms of the genre.

FFIV should be higher.

Why do you find it odd that Nintendo's on there four times? At the least, they're ONE of the very best developers in the industry. In my opinion, they take the crown.

I find it odd because Square Enix has published 21 odd DS RPG's and I would think that more would make it to the top 5 since the publisher is pretty much THE name of RPG's.

not all 21 of them are released outside Japan and Suikoden is gonna join the list!

And You probably can't count Fire Emblem as RPG or you would need to add Advance Wars on the list



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

1.) SRPG's are JRPG's.  If I had made a PS3 list, I would've included Valkyria Chronicles for instance.

2.) I'll change this list when Suikoden gets a score.

I agree with this completely. It's even worse over in the PSP section. Some many games who are not given justice.

Well I'm of the mindset that you really only need to count the two Pokemon games as one entry, since it's more or less the exact same title. With about 8 more RPGs releasing in March, I'm sure this list will continue to look mighty different as time goes on. There really is no contest, the DS is home to RPGs.
