That said, that's only for certain games that were underproduced compared to the game's quality (BG&E and others). A similar phenomenon is true of games that are just very popular: for instance, my local GameCrazy can't keep used SSBM in stock. |
IT does and it doesn't. We have about 8 copies of Mickey's Magical Mirror, or whatever that 2003 GC game was, and it is 49.98. I have pointed out the error to several managers, but the problem is more deeply rooted in the system. At some point MMM was removed from the computer, when it was added back in it was for it's full retail price. It would eat up our markdown budget to sell it for less until homeoffice realizes it is not paying attention. So that could be why random crappy games are still at high prices. We only have about 8 Gc titles in total, most are Best Sellers from Nintendo. Those are 30 USD. A local chain was still charging 50 dollars for Re3 and Re2. It was a shame because I would have bought them otherwise after being on a Re4wii kick. Games that are good are just going to have a higher price period. While gaming stores will continue to support the GC, larger retails chain are in the process of phasing it out-unless the local area has a high enough demand to warrant the use of shelf space. In this area, I don't expect us to have anything except Madden 08, Zelda, and that dang Mickey game left after Christmas-at most. The reason is that we only have 2 game cases for the Wii and we need that space as more releases come out. Stores that are literally nothing but games and accessories can afford to give it more room.
