Killzone 2 on the PlayStation 3 will spur Xbox 360 gamers to sample Sony’s console, the consumer electronics giant reckons.

Scott Steinberg, VP of Product Marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, told website GameDaily that the game – which launched in the UK late last month and is a "tremendous" PS3 exclusive – will “push 360 owners to try the PS3”.

Whether Steinberg meant gamers will simply play the game on a mate’s PS3 or buy one themselves specifically to play Killzone 2 is unclear. He said that the title will definitely “move people from the sidelines”.

Sony needs to up its numbers. The worldwide tally of Xbox 360s sold up to the end of January standing at 27.9m, with the PS3’s total at 21.3m, according to the consoles' respective manufacturers.

The numbers didn’t stop Steinberg from describing the PS3’s upcoming game release list as “an embarrassment of riches” that “bombards the competition” and highlights “the power and advantages of the PS3”. Not that he's biased in any way... ®

Oh well, his words are ambigious enough to allow for the "well, if they try it out, my words were correct". And even if 2 xbox gamers bought a ps3 for Killzone2, he'd be right.

Keep on dreaming Sony. Killzone 2 is no doubt a good game, but it isn't much greater then Resistance 2.

I guess PS3 should outsell Xbox 360 worldwide for the week ending March 14th then hahaha.

He may have had a point had Halo Wars not been released at basically the same time as KZ2. In this economy people don't have a lot of disposable income. If Xbox 360 owners were going to try something new, it was gonna be, and is Halo Wars for $60 as opposed to a PS3 and KZ2 which would cost almost $500.
