It's not a shocker - Bioware and MS had the contract in place - and EA can't do a doggone thing about it.

 

Here's the million dollar question - If EA owns the rights to Mass Effect then why hasn't the first one been ported to PS3?

MS was just the publisher, and it gave that away to EA when Mass Effect was released on PC... so what did MS trade EA for those publishing right?

GEBx ... MS retains some rights as the game's first publisher. However, only Bioware, EA and MS know how long that is for. Hence why EA had to *strike a deal* to publish the PC port. The deal also allowed EA to publish future MEs. MS has sat quietly this entire time. They knew it was gonna stay on the 360.

Trust me on this - I will bet you $$$ that MS stated clearly that they'd let EA have the publishing rights, but to never, ever consider porting the franchise to the PS3, unless it's years down the road.

Nice. Timed exclusive or not, I rather play the game when it releases. Not wait one year after it originally released.

This is extermely sad. So many people grasping at straws for Mass Effect 2 to appear on PS3. I dont blame you, it's probably the game of the generation so far. But heres some advice.

1. The original has not been ported.
2. The original was announced without the word exclusive.
3. The fact that after more than 12 months working on ME2 and no mention of PS3 in the official Bioware announcement.


There is no excuse to purchase a 360 to play ME1 and 2. 360 is cheap, has plenty of other games that you'll play (and dont lie, it does have other exclusives you would play) and you would get the best of both worlds. Hell thats what I'm doin. :)

It isn't mentioned anywhere, and we've seen that no "exclusive" is truly all that too exclusive.

I loved ME1 and have very high hopes for ME2. It is a shame it more than likely will not be coming to PS3. I guess you guys can always buy a 360 since they are so cheap to play it.

Timed....not timed...all I know is it is coming to the 360 on launch....and the 360 is the lead,,,and you know how well 360 games port to the ps3.

If this trailer is real.. Bioware has officially coped out. Especially with the "2" beside mass effect. Looks like it's from skate 2. If they kill shepard, I will be mad, but I will still buy it, most likely.

mass effect series will only be on the 360 platform on the console side, why? because i am 100% sure that m$ made that part of the agreement with ea, in which m$ gave ea the publishing rights to bring mass effect 1 to the pc. m$ is very smart as to decide which games it wants to keep on only its console and mass effect is one of them. :)
