It's not a shocker - Bioware and MS had the contract in place - and EA can't do a doggone thing about it.

 

Here's the million dollar question - If EA owns the rights to Mass Effect then why hasn't the first one been ported to PS3?

MS was just the publisher, and it gave that away to EA when Mass Effect was released on PC... so what did MS trade EA for those publishing right?

GEBx ... MS retains some rights as the game's first publisher. However, only Bioware, EA and MS know how long that is for. Hence why EA had to *strike a deal* to publish the PC port. The deal also allowed EA to publish future MEs. MS has sat quietly this entire time. They knew it was gonna stay on the 360.

Trust me on this - I will bet you $$$ that MS stated clearly that they'd let EA have the publishing rights, but to never, ever consider porting the franchise to the PS3, unless it's years down the road.
