Forums - Nintendo - Why isn't there more games similar to Okami on the Wii?

I just picked the game up on Friday, and it is excellent.  I will go as far as saying it is the best game I own to date.   I am only 5 hours in right now, and I am just amazed at the colors and gameplay.   I think I may have to get Zelda TP now, because people keep comparing it to that.  Don't get me wrong I have fun with games like Boom Blox, RRR and Mario Party 8.  The fun just doesn't last.

PS.  If you don't have Okami get the F*** out there and pick it up

I am tired of having to buy EVERY SINGLE game out there that is hyped up by hardcore players, in order to "save the industry" or "send a sign" to them to make more innovative games.  I am sure Okami is a great game, I just don't have an interest in it.  I am glad you like it though.  Maybe I will pick it up sometime.

LOL!  I am not a hardcore gamer.  I do however like like to have a good experience when I play.  Also not trying to save a developer.  I just think if you want to experience a great game buy it.  I have had 5 gaming consoles Atari, NES, Sega Game Gear, PS1 and now the Wii which I got this Christmas.  I have just notice absolutely no substance to most games I have played so far on the Wii.  I have only been playing again now for 3 months, so please don't assume my gaming history.  Okami is a great game and if you have a Wii it would be well worth the $20 bucks.  I

I was skepital of the game as well.  Guess what, I am glad I got it, so I figure i'd let people know it's good.  Also thought I might get some info on similar games because I like the gameplay!

It's not commercially viable to make beautiful smart ingenuitive games.

It's a shame, but that's the way it is: there are tons of shooters out there, but the industry doesn't offer anything when it comes to big, beautiful, intelligent action/adventure games...

They should know there's at least 5 million Zelda lovers out there, but Okami is a proof that even the Zelda fans (and the ex, huge PS2 userbase) are not that curious and open-minded... so the financial risks are very high, as that kind of game, if well done, costs a lot of money...

It's a kind of luxury (time+money) that only one developper may easily afford: Nintendo...

For a small company, workin' on one or two games at the same time, it's really difficult... while Nintendo may afford it: they have so many games to be released that it doesn't matter if a huge game à la Zelda takes three or four years to be made, or has a one or two years delay needed for the extra polish and the mega lenght...

EA, Activision, Ubisoft could financially do it... but they will stick to the tastes of the average american kid with an average IQ... they keep it very (too) simple... same thing in many Hollywood blockbusters, btw...

Most devs don't care about the "prestige" of a great, "artistic", 50 hours long Zelda-like game, while for the same production costs, they could release three or four 10 hours long shooters... and that will (sadly) never change...

"A beautiful drawing in 480i will stay beautiful forever...

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

Because its a port, and because it didnt sell well.

I rented Okami for the PS2 because of all the hype it received and I must say it was extremely boring. Now if you want an awesome game developed by the same company you should try God Hand. Quite possibly one of the best adventure games I've ever played.

Because there's not many games similar to that on PS2 or Gamecube that Nintendo can port.

Wow! That is a news. Nintendo made Okami for the Wii? And I thought it was Capcom and Okami was meant to be a Zelda clone for the playstation.

Okami is a nice game, but in my opinion not nearly as great as Twilight Princess. The graphical style looks interesting at first but it was boring after short time, because for the most part of the game, the graphics looks the same.

I agree, it's a great game. I wish more people had picked it up, it would encourage more original style games like that instead of some of the crap that's put out there.

The only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth.

I would buy it.... but I have about 10 RPGs waiting for me to play them....

Arf I didn't play enough as a student, now I don't have the time...
