Forums - Sony - MLB: The Show 09 Reaches AAA!!!!

This "AAA" thing is stupid.

Go find me a Baseball sim that comes anywhere near the level of polish, realism, gameplay, etc... of MLB the Show series. This series gets better year after year.

Wait! What? You can't find anything out there that can even compare?

Oh well, I guess that puts it at the top of it's class.

By the way, ,this game isn't "AAA". It's "Major Leagues".

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Why Metacritic? They use less reviews then everyone else, like gamerankings, gamestats, NG4 etc.

At the moment it stands

89.75% - gamerankings - 14 reviews

90% - Metacritic - 15 reviews

90/100 - Gamestats - 16 reviews

9.1/10 - N4G - 32 reviews

If you round the numbers then they would all be 9/10. Otherwise, only gamerankings is below the 90% mark.

Adding this to the OP

Hmm, Gamestats and Gamerankings have a similar amount of reviews, that's odd. Thanks for the numbers though

@ NinjaKido )

yes, only the upper case spelling is a registered trademark "®" afaik, while the lower case spelling is an unregistered trademark that still has trademark rights, because of it's common usage, but it's a "™" - this is rights talk, but I only wanted to emphasis, that PLAYSTATION actually is the more correct way to say it, as it clearly identifies you are talking about that specific product

in official announcements it's always all caps aswell

Although I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in baseball, I admire the fact that the San Diego studio have managed to increase the quality of the franchise as the years progressed.

It's far removed from other well known sports franchises which churn out sequels every year with little to no improvements.

The term AAA originated from marketers to describe high-profile, big budget games. While so-called AAA games are expected to score highly, they don't always do. Likewise, lower profile, lower budget "sleeper hits" may score highly, but would not be considered AAA.

I'd say that it's appropriated to use the term AAA to refer to a game that has a big budget and is anticipated to score highly. The score itself isn't the measure, it's the budget and the expectation.

This.

90+ is different from AAA. RE5 is definitely an AAA game, but under 90 on metacritic.

I will pick it up when it reaches the 20 dollar price. :) I dont mind if I am a year behind on my sports games.

Good job to the show. Honestly out of Killzone and The Show I rather have The Show on the 360. Because MLB2k9 is pretty bad.

It's just that simple.

We are in march and we already have 2 of these "AAA" exclusive games. Its gonna be a great year.

Good thinking! But you forgot about Yakuza 3, but it only in Japan though

Next up could be Infamous, but I think it gonna get an average of 85/100

my thouths exactly, with what i have seen of the game...

i think infamous will be in the 85-88.

If the story is good(i mean really really good) it will have a chance of 90+. New IPs have it hard.
