I still don't have a fishing pole after like 15 hours into the game, holy crap lol.... I'm prolly taking too long with everyday farming and dungeon running though, but at least I'm rich I guess.

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.
just a helpful tip to get people started though, you can sell pretty much anything on your field beside the lumber and rocks in the begining to get you started on getting seeds hehe.

hmm, I am going to start over... Who gives the fishing pol e btw?
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:
Awright me gonna stop reading this thread, too much spoiling, even though I own the game myself, I don't like to be spoiled. Still, I'm waiting for it to get in.

That would be Selphy. Her love meter went up really quick, despite my not giving her anything, so it seems she's pretty easy.
Er...that came out wrong.
As for the combat, it's not bad. There's no blocking attacks, so you've got to stay nimble and dodge them instead. You'll also fall behind fairly quickly if you don't keep your equipment updated. Fortunately, having a strong monster companion eases things quite a bit. Unfortunately, getting the stronger monsters can be painful...literally.

He sells them inside his home, between noon and six o'clock on non-holidays. It's the second option.

Cinnamon. Just talk to her when she's fishing. I found her the day after she arrived, at the creek near your homestead.

See above. If it's any consolation, fishing's not all THAT useful (yet); mostly, I just catch fish to give to Cinnamon and that Japanese chick whose name escapes me right now. They're also good for cheaply restoring RP when you cook them, though..
| wichdog69 said: I got this game 2 days ago and I gotta say its great. I haven't even started the adventure part in it and I already have 8 hours or so put in. The first thing I did was buy a sword so I could start the adventure but then I started farming, meeting new people, I built a barn stuff like that. Now I'm thinking of making money before moving on with the adventure. Rune Factory just found themselves another fan. This game is great! |
Agreed. It's a massive timesink, and so incredibly addicting. Keep in mind, though, that adventuring's the only way to get the ores, which you'll need to upgrade your farming tools, so you'll be entering those dungeons sooner rather than later.

I have to disagree with Fishing being useless. I am making some fantastic money off my fishing and then cooking the stuff up. Hell I think I make more money that way than my current farming efforts.
...
Really? I've had the opposite experience: growing strawberries in the Green Ruins brings in loads of cash daily, but the fish I catch are mostly the Red Salmon/Carp. I'm getting shrimp now that I've upgraded my fishing pole, but it's still not much of a money maker. Guess I'm doing it wrong? Wouldn't be the first time.

well no biggy, I didn't think at all to grow strawberries in the Green Ruins, that's freakin brilliant. And I could make them into jam for more money.
I would fish off the beach, more expensive fish over there.
edit: just thought I'd mention, that that Brodik dude is a dick and I hate him.
...
I'll definitely give that a shot. My cooking skills need an upgrade, and sashimi's a good place to start.
Small spoiler ahead!
And for the Green Ruins, make sure you beat the boss: not only can you teleport to his door afterwards (opening six 3x3 plots without having to encounter a single monster) but the strawberries started giving fruit each day. Tons of cash and, since it's a dungeon, free RP recharges each day...
