Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo announced Flash support for developers

http://nicalis.com/blog/2009/03/12/exciting-things-to-come-for-wii/

This week’s developer summit proved extremely useful for our Wii projects. I think it’s great that Nintendo announced Flash support for game developers. It’s pretty exciting for the Wii and especially for developers who can make games directly in flash. This should open up the Wiito a lot of web developers who already can do killer flash games.

Well, that should make Wii development cost just about nothing. But I'm sure the games will be quality.

...?

100 point games plz.

And yes, I am being a bit facetious. Flash games can be fun too...just rarely for prolonged periods of time.

Oh god no! Don't let Ubisoft know!

Flash port flood imminent!

Pixel Art can be fun.

Agree about the Port flood but it will be good for developers with a very small budget

Long Live SHIO!

This could lead to a lot of interesting games... or a lot of shovelware as well.

Hopefully there's a different pricing for some of these.

Hey, flash games are awesome. I spent hours figuring out every level in Choronoton. And because flash is so cheap and avilable, you get crazy stuff like Rose & Camellia.

Flash games are almost the only PC games I play anymore.

Nothing wrong with this. As far as I can tell, games still need to meet certain standards before Nintendo will release them on WiiWare, so who cares if the game is made with Flash or whatever?

Hopefully this will work with the soon-to-be-updated Wii browser for improved interweb performance.

Yeah, Rose & Camellia on the Wii or DS would be awesome.

And there can be robust flash games. It's just that playing them on browsers limits their scale.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

This flood will be even more devastating and annoying than the Flood in the Halo series.

You can make traditional games in Flash, at least Old School 2D games.
