Halo brand + double install base compared to PS3 = huge sales in america.

Bit of a cop out there

The game is an RTS, has horrible reviews (didn't lamespot give it like a 6 or something?) has had zero advertising, i have not seen one advert, poster etc for Halo Wars. Have seen millions for KZ2, which is expected due to the high amount of money Sony spent on the advertising.

= KZ2 should of pissed all over Halo Wars.

Remember that whole "It is an fps game, america loves fps games"?

Keep in mind that half the people who bought it were either..

A: Didn't know it was an RTS

B: It said "Halo" on the front.

And the other half knew what it was/wanted it.

This is what I expected. Halo is massive in North America, Halo 3 sold well over 2 million first week in NA alone. There's no chance of Halo Wars overtaking Killzone 2 LT WW, Killzone has too much of a lead, while the Halo Wars lead in NA will decrease until it becomes insignificant.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Killzone 2 outselling Halo Wars LT in NA, when all is said and done.

I'm sorry, but when I saw the Hyruken say that he didn't even see a single advertisement for Halo Wars, it was tough to take any bit of this thread seriously. And isn't this just a great big trolling thread anyways? Lame.

Higher first week sales WW: Killzone 2
Higher second week sales WW: Probably Killzone 2
Higher first week sales in Others: Killzone 2
Higher first week sales in NA: Halo Wars.

Which is what I expected to begin with. I know Killzone 2 will win Others and Japan when all is said and done, what remains to be seen is whether shooter legs can drive it past Halo Wars in Halo country.

Still sort of surprising. For all the hype that kz2 received, I would have really expected the fanboys to make it the best selling game of the month at least.

This.

It is the best selling game of the month, just not in America.

Oh, and it's worth mentioning that Halo Wars didn't release in America until March

good job halo wars but theres alot more xboxs in america than PS3s and also it has halo in the name obviously its going to sell a crapload. Both games are great and deserve every copy sold

Long Live SHIO!

of course it sold more. its halo¡¡¡¡. halo is big¡¡¡. maybe it was for the install base??

  • But Killzone is a FPS. And in the states, FPS+REALISTIC GRAPHICS+BLOOD usually sells.
  • Yeah; like Crysis... OOPS!

  • Resistance 2 bombed. Please find another game.
  • Resistance 2 sold over a million copies; which is a success in the videogames industry; if you knew about the industry like you think you do, you wouldn't have said that

  • I never talked about Halo Wars. Strange...
  • No one's talking about Halo Wars.

  • Again, the PS3 isn't the PS2... the PS3 diversity is nowhere as big as the Xbox360 one.
  • It doesn't have to be yet; it's only in it's second year: if you match the years together, it will read more similarly.

    More RPGs? Xbox 360
  • More RTS? Xbox 360
  • More Sports? Xbox 360
    Biggest game collection? Xbox 360
More vintage arcade games? Xbox 360
  • Just see the above.

  • But... But... IT'S KILLZONE 2!!!!
The biggest game of the decade!!!
  • In your eyes only; Sony didn't even give it big Advertising... that was reserved for Halo 3's Mountain Dew cans and other Gonzo advertising; which sold well, but was a dissappointment to a lot of Hardcore Halo fans (but not me, I liked it). Killzone 2 looks better than Crysis; and multiple reviewers already said that. Even the most ardent critics trying to pick apart Killzone 2 can only come up with things that are much worse in other games. "laggy" controls (RE5), online's "not acting right somehow that I can't explain" (Gears 2)

On the other hand, the Xbox360 doesn't need Killzone to succeed.

The 360 isn't succedding. The 360 only surged ahead of the PS3 because of the price drop in 2008, not because of their dissapponting line-up; which looks even worse this year. If you line-up the consoles by their starting dates, the PS3 is doing better than the 360; if the PS3 costs the same as the 360, the 360 would have sold less; and if the PS3 came out the same day as the 360, the 360 would've flopped already.

Signature? Where's the pen?

pixelsword, I guess you're not a PS360 gamer :)
I'm sorry for you.

You're acting like a typical PS3-only owner.
