Forums - Sales - Sony ahead Nitendo in Japan, the battle began !

I think it´s pretty obvious why SOny is ahead at the moment. Wii Music and Animal Crossing haven´t had the legs Nintendo expected them to have and with RE5 and Wii hw constantly dropping it was obvious. April will probably be the other way round again with MH1+3.

edit: In addition, with stronger support from 3rd parties (EA, Activision), titles like Tales of next and DQ10 I can´t imagine Wii sales will decline in the long run. So far, the Wii has sold because of games such as Wii Fit, Play and Sports. What is going to happen with all those 3rd party games?

Listen I am talking about the current "saleswar" and that is between Wii, PS3 and 360. This war goes back about 2 years, what happened before that is not relevant when we make comparisons now between the three. Just like it doesn´t matter that Nintendo won the 2 generations before the 2 latest that Sony won. Do you get what I mean? It´s not relevant to this generation.

 Nintendo dominating the first 2 years of this generation is no small feat. It would probably take PS3 a further couple of year to pass Wii with the current salestrend and that is IF Wii stopped selling completely from now on. Not likely. I should say impossible.

Hence why I think some are overreacting because of PS3 selling better than Wii for the last couple of weeks. Come back and talk if PS3 outsells Wii constantly for the coming 2 years. That´s not likely either in my opinion. But we´ll see I guess.

 

 

 Dont tell me you are counting NES generation? Lol Nintendo never had any REAL competition back than.Oh and dont mention PV-1000, Super Cassete Vision and Supergame VG 3000, because all those consoles were failure. Its easy to win a generation when you dont have any good competitors.

 

and i was talking about Nintendo vs. Sony generations. Even if Nintendo win this generation ( probably will) its still going to be 2-1 for Sony.

 

Well I was talking about this generation and nothing else.

But I feel like I want to comment on one thing about the earlier generations. I don´t get your comments about the NES. Sure it was dominating everything but why wouldn´t that count as a huge accomplishment? Nobody knew beforehand that NES would be suge a huge hit did they? It could just as easily has been Sega that made it big with Master System couldn´t it. Nintendo had to work for their succes just like anybody else would have had to.

The PS3 would have to sell 100,000 every for a year in Japan to catch the Wii and the Wii to stop selling completely.

And the PSP 300,000 every week and the DS stop selling.
