Forums - Sony - Kaz to SQEN: FFVII remake on the way?

This Dutch source states that Final Fantasy 7 and Killer 7 remakes are coming to the Wii.

Here's the link: http://www.xgn.nl/wii/nieuws/5688/mogelijk-nog-meer-remakes-voor-de-wii-in-de-maak/

Here's my translation of the Final Fantasy-part:

''It's clear that Final Fantasy 7 is a great RPG. Summing up all games, including spin-offs and remakes, the series now counts 35 games. In 2002, Square-Enix promised a FF7 remake for the PS2, but it never happened. Why would Square-Enix release Final Fantasy 7 for the Wii and not for another console? Because the Wii is the best selling console at the moment. The 360 doesn't have much succes in Japan, and it's a known fact the PS3 doesn't sell that good. At the other side, there are lots of people waiting for a remake, and combined with the rather large Wii-userbase and low developement-costs, a FF7-remake has a good chance of succeeding on the Wii.
We're waiting patiently for Square-Enix's official confirmation.'''

Not very trustable, but it's... something.

Sony tapped Square to create a tech demo just like they did for the PS2 (recall the old man face tech demo).   Neither were actual game development of any kind just a technical representation fo the ystem pushed to the limits in a non-game environment.

While it would be ironic that a tech demo based on FFVII was displayed on PS3 only to have an actual FFVII remake appear on Wii, it's not as though which system has a tech demo should designate which system gets a remake.  That kind of decision is built on dozens of other more meaningful factors.

You do realize that there was a Final Fantasy tech demo on N64. You do also realize that Final Fantasy VII then came out on PS1 right?

LOL. That's not a source, that is someone's opinion.

S-E will likely do a DS port of FFVII, and then an enhanced remake for the PSP, as that seems to fit recent paterns.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

If they are gonna do a remake they have to go w/ the PS3. i would be so disappointed if they game be a watered down version after seeing that tech demo.

I doubt SE is gonna spend all that money on remaking ff7 on the ps3, it'll be far to expensive and there just arnt anough ps3s out in Japan. plus it would clash with ff13

SE would be much wiser doing a ff7 remake using the ff12 game engine and making it for the ps2 and wii, or wii exclusitivity ;)

call me Aaronbunny!

Wii code: 6993 4542 2457 6182. plz add me Im a wiily gd friend

personaly i wish SE spent time on making new games instead of remaking shit. This is just getting beyond a joke. Sure the games were great but common are we gonna see the same shit happen next gen from SE?

I hope they don't remake it for the Wii. Wii can get Kingdom Hearts instead.
