I like this idea. If this is well done, then why not? But we all know evderybody will be Pictochatting lol.

XD that's awesome.  Although the teacher could just use their own DS to see who's in the chat rooms.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I don't see any difference between this and giving students laptops--they're giving them educational software, after all.

This is why it just isn't that big of a deal. After all the DS may not be able to create an essay you can print and turn in, but at a fraction of the cost for a laptop with many of the same features, it surely isn't a horrible action.

Plus, I bet if you already have the DS or DSi you won't get the loaned school model.

So it begins....

WASHINGTON, D.C. - A D.C. School is turning to the Nintendo Wii to win over support for its music program.

Representatives with Nintendo showed students how it worked at H.D. Cooke Elementary school Thursday. Teachers say it will be used as a supplemental tool to get children more engaged in music.

The Wii music program shows a renewed effort to make music an important part of the curriculum. D.C. School Chancellor Michelle Rhee made it part of her policy to make sure every school has a music teacher on staff.

The Wii music program will eventually be in 50 cities throughout the country.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Seems like a weird thing to do but if it is beneficial to the kids who am I to argue.

If more kids come out of school with a better education due to the DS then the taxpayers money is well spent.

If not...well let's leave it at that and be positive.

Oh yeah, I think all/most/some schools get their IT kit at a massively reduced price if not cost.

What is the big deal? I remember playing computer games in school.

And I remember enjoying Carmen Sandiego at home.
