heh, name five famous belgians ;)

Only five?

Edgar P. Jacobs, Peyo, Jean-Michel Charlier, Jijé, Maurice de Bevere (better known as Morris), Eddy Paape, Victor Hubinon, Jacques Martin, Willy Vandersteen, Maurice Tillieux and of course my two favorite ones: André Franquin and the one and only Hergé.

I love Belgian comics (as well as French ones). École Marcinelle! Ligne claire! Casterman!

Other famous Belgians I can think of: Georges Simenon, Hercule Poirot (yes, I know, the latter one is fictional).

I also would say  Robert Cailliau (he and Tim Berners-Lee(UK) invented the World Wide Web)  considering how many are on the internet I would say that is a great invention.

definitely TheSource..

>_>

seriously though, probably George Washington

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

LORDI!!
WTF!
No.

Accoring to some tv show (voted by the public) the Greatest Dutchmen is some bold homosexual who ran for Prime Minister but was shot before the elections by a left-winged animal activist: Pim Fortuyn. To me the award goes to all the brave men and women who sparked our Golden Age and made us one of the most important countries of the 16th/17th century

They chose some guy no-one has heard of? I could name 100 internationally famous dutch people easily... Most of them football players lol

@ highwarstar.

He doesn't have international fame. And if you get shot by an animal activist you must be a real pussy

Though it would also have been sad to elect: Johan Cruyff, Marco van Basten, Armin van Buren, Tiesto, Andre Rieu, Rembrandt, the other famous painter, Anne Frank (she's German lol), ...

for france... Charlemagne (9th century king)
followed by Napoleon.

after that:
as far as kings go you have Louis XIV and Francois Ier
for intelectuals... there are too many painters, philosophers, poets, playwrites to list.
Scientists...I know we have quite a few... I guess Marie Curie is one of the best known ones...
Symbolic figures... Jeanne D'Arc

and guys, your discution about where people are born is stupid... I was born in the US but never lived there, does that mean that later I'll be the greatest American instead of Frenchman??
