Forums - Nintendo - Interview: Miyamoto was sad for being like the other companies

This is why i felt there was still a real danger of them leaving the console market, even now, when i know that they were profitable for that whole span. I don't think they would have been happy with virtual irrelevance, despite the fact that they were still making money.

I also like what is basically his dig at the technological hurdles of game development. He said the minutiae of making 3D worlds detracted from the vision you were trying to produce, which is very true.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Around the Network

Kind of ironic when you think back at when Nintendo wouldnt switch from cartridges.

What is interesting are those who are responding in the 1up forum who think they know more about the subject the Miyamoto.

Silly fanboys.

Mike from Morgantown

Yeah, the internet sure is full of serious business now-a-days isn't it? Although I did get a good chuckle out of those comments, seems they're still in the denial stage. Ah well, just prooves that VGChartz has the best community out there.

Anywho, the GCN was definitely an interesting phase in gaming history, as it had the least aces up its sleeve (besides the Nintendo games and much cheaper price...). Heck, even the fabled Capcom 5 turned into the Capcom 1 (the only GCN exclusive being P.N.03), and other 3rd party support was pretty scarce (still waiting for Psychonauts). Still, it was a good console with some great games. I definitely enjoyed the ride, as did many others. But now it's Wii's time to shine, and it sure is shining.

lol yeah the N64 era and the GameCube era's were like the Borg invaded the starship. Nintendo couldn't find their identity.

...Although it wasn't a necessarily bad thing as some of the games that were release for the N64 to this day are considered classics. =p

thats the era i loved them the most, i still keep n64 it have tons of pokemons stickers  somewhere,

Yeah I still remember Killer Instinct n64, being a kid then all I thought was the n64 was the sheit lol. But Nintendo i guess, felt threaten by Sony & Sega's of the world, and with whispers of Microsoft getting into gaming, they THOUGHT they had to have the most powerful system out there, software creativity be damned, and I think thats what Miymato is referencing. Remember with the n64 nintendo leapfrog'd the 32-bit era much like Atari did with the Jaguar...

...Man when I think about some of the game consoles I had experience with it's no wonder my moms was pissed when I told her I wanted to be an artist, still end up a techie though, lol.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Miyamoto is smart and creative. Now if Nintendo hard targeted the hardcore audience a ltitle more in the begining we would have lots of awesome games since it is cheaper to develop.
