Forums - Sony - Haze Now Confirmed As PS3 Exclusive

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6177964.html?action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;1

"Publisher Ubisoft confirms that the PlayStation 3 version of the game is currently the only one in development, no plans to bring it to any other platforms at a later date."

Some people are specualting it will still go ahead on the other platforms, but after this statement I have to say I'm very doubtful.

Well that stinks. I was kinda looking forward to this game. I hope it comes to the 360 eventually.

Even if it come out later its still good for ps3. I dont like that there is too many games coming out in November. It should really be a month between Haze and UT3 otherwise Haze will be destroyed. CoD4,Crysis,UT3 and Haze the same month? Seems very wrong.

"Today, Ubisoft said that currently no other versions in development, and although it was still leaving the door open in the future for "new partnerships," currently the game is indeed only planned for the PS3. A spokesperson said, "The official statement on PC and Xbox 360 is that these platforms are not confirmed.""

From the same article. What this means is that Sony has timed exclusivity (which we already knew) and that part of that (as with most timed exclusivity deals) is that Ubisoft cannot talk about other versions or recognise their existence, lest gamers wait for those versions thereby rendering Sony's exclusivity purchase useless.

I dont know much about Haze, but if its any good, ill play it on 360 in march or april

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

hum, I was going to do the same thing putting the full link
and then I see someone just posted before me ...

It is always better to put the full text when u quote an article ...

Odd how most of the gaming community across the internet considers this to be the final touch in confirming it as fully exclusive.

How is it that the devs of Unreal Tournament 3 can talk openly of their future projects on the PC and 360, but not Ubisoft? Despite the fact they are also under contract. Please fill me in, (you seem to know an awful lot about the contracts.)

It won't be completely PS3 exclusive - just doesn't make long term, financial sense. If it sells really well it has a chance.

I don't know, I just see another shooter...

Probably because 1 of 2 things happened:

  1. They stopped reading where you quoted and assumed that was that.
  2. Someone only posted the part you quoted because they didn't bother reading the whole article (see #1) and people read that part of the article thinking that was all that was said.
As for Epic being able to openly talk about contracts, they can do that simply because it's a different contract.  You do know that not every contract is the same right?

to try to asnwer u, Dallinor,

UT3 was going to be multiplateform, but du to Xboxlive security, the mod release was a big problem for epic and they decided to firslty release the game on PS3/PC.

For Haze it seems quite different, it is like there is a contract between Sony/Ubisoft that seems to say "timed exclusive".
Even the FULL gamespot link doesn't say "never", it just says "not confirmed" which is quite unclear.
Whatever, to maximize the PS3 sales, the best solution is to NOT mention any release on any others enemy plateoform.

What I can't understand is that didn't Sony say they're not going to pay for exclusives? So what's the financial incentive of delaying or cancelling both the PC and 360 versions of the game?
