"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Asian sales aren't included in Japanese charts, these are Japanese sales only. GfK now track software sales in Hong Kong, and will extend this to other Asian countries, but I haven't seen a public chart from them.

Not much data from Asian region, but to get an idea of how much PS3 games sell there compared to Japan we have  GT5:P shipments for Asia at 90k compared to 620k in Japan, so 15% of Japan sales. Of course certain games will be more popular in one country than another, but 15% is probably a good rule of thumb.

I agree.  This rule applies to PS3 the most because there is no piracy issues for PS3 games.

From my observation, the games that are popular in Japan tends to sell well in Asia (HK, Taiwan).  However, I do noticed that western titles seem to be more well accepted in HK/Taiwan than Japan.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Next week: Warriors Orochi Z (must buy for me).
PS3 games on top for third weeks in the role very likely. Go PS3!

Orochi Z is immediately out of stock at Amazon Japan after midnight on 3/12. Not much information was released before launch and gamers are picking this game up because it's surprisingly good. Very similar sales pattern as Demon's Souls, only Orochi Z is a established franchise.

More like March 2009 is the month of PS3 (in Japan) to be more realistic.

Will that mean April as well?

FF: ACC bundle comes next month.

Do we have any way of tracking Asian sales for this game (English version)? If so, do we count them here?

I know for a fact that it gets regularly stocked at sites like PlayAsia and sell out almost instantly.

This game is doing very well for itself.

*I am not 100% sure on what territories Famitsu, Mediacreate and/or Dengeki cover, so for all I know they are already counted.

I guess not.  A lot of friends of mine in Taiwan are playing this game non-stop and this game was sold out everywhere in Taiwan since launch on 2/26.  But the VGChartz "other" # for this game is still 0.

Talking about Demon's Souls right?

I almost picked it up the other day when a site had it in stock, but yeah, it seems people really like the game.
