They could be. They opened a new studio not too long ago so maybe they can start releasing 2 games per year? The next R & C AND a new IP? Insomniac work like dogs so I wouldn't be surprised.

Sony/Insomniac doesn't own the rights to the Spyro franchise anymore, am I right? |
Not "anymore", they never owned it to begin with. Universal did, and Insomniac had a 3 game contract. The same with Naughty Dog.
Even if we knew that Insomniac were making another PS3 exclusive this is good news, I can't wait to play Ratchet and Clank Future 2!
Fantastic news !!!!! Oh wait actually "news" is the wrong word......
Haha. They made a special note of its exclusivity on purpose, I bet.
They had all those rumors of that multiplat game "Lock & Key" a while back, and the Insomniac guys on neogaf (like JStevenson) would mock it, and eventually starting getting mods to lock any topics about the game (often including a line by JStevenson saying "This topic should be put under a Lock & Key" or something similarly funny).

Clap Hanz are owned by Sony. Some people just get confused about what Second Party means and list studios like Naughty Dog and Rare as Second Party.
There are two types of Second Party studios, and I would argue that one group isn't really Second Party:
Studios who's IPs are owned by Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo (like Insomniac - Sony owns all of their (current) IPs, and if they want to keep working on these IPs, they'll have to be on PlayStation platforms)
Studios which own their own IPs (Microsoft published Vampire Rain, for example, but it later went multiplat. Then there's the whole issue with Mass Effect.)
I read somewhere a couple of years ago that there next game was going to have vampire pirates in it.
Heavens to Murgatoids.
I thought that Ted Price confirmed they were PS3 exclusive for the entire generation. I think they have a 7 game deal with Sony.
I could be making that up, so don't quote me. Actually, if you challenge me on it I may leave the thread.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

2 games a year from a company like Insomniac is like a dream come true for Sony fans. I just hope if they decide to pump them out tat fast they can keep the quality of the games as high as they have been.
