Forums - Microsoft - What Game Did you Prefer and Why Infinite Undiscovery or The Last Remnant?

I haven't played either (still been playing ToV :P) but impressions from friends is that IU is just a mediocre game period. TLR is actually decent if you can look past the technical issues it has.

As far as ranking the other JRPG's on the 360 I agree with mrstickball and would put Eternal Sonata down on the list. I've played through it twice and after the charm of the beautiful graphics wears off it's a mediocre game in every way. I'm still rather perplexed in how it received some of the scores it did. It's my impression now that due to scheduling restrictions that most reviewers must only play the very early stages of long JRPG for their reviews.

ES would be mediocre if it was a PS2 generation game.  It would probably get the 76 Mrstick gave it.  It is exceptional IMO because the crop of next Gen RPGs is just so bad (outside of PC RPGs which own, the Witcher especially).  I mean if I took ES off the worth playing list only Tales and Star Ocean would be left (and SO4 is ALSO quite mediocre compared with the PS2 gen, and only seems pretty decent because every JRPG from the last few years outside of the Persona series is anything but an instant classic)

Compared with Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arm Eternal Sonata is golden.

I prefer IU over TLR.

Both have big technical issues and terrible voice acting.

I just think the story is a bit better in IU and so is the music.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

They where both decent games, nothing more nothing less.

LO is still the best RPG this gen, well of those I have played.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I saw something on XBOX Live a couple of weeks ago about how their Greatest Hits were dropping down to $19.95 and they showed a pic of the Lost Odyssey box. I'll get it if I see it for $19.95.

I've played Enchanted Arms (pretty bad) Star Ocean 4 (decent) tales (pretty good) IU (REALLY bad) Blue Dragon (I thought it was really bad until I played IU, now I just think of it as bad), Lost Oddyssey (the worst Final Fantasy never made, bad stilted animation, iffy gameplay, annoying characters the works), Eternal Sonata (pretty good when compared with the rest of the crop)

And the sole AAA 360 RPG, Mass Effect, which is the best WRPG since Knights of the Old Republic and will probably remain the best recent RPG until Dragon Age, which looks awesome.

Maybe I missed on here and there (I didn't play Last Remnant for one) but I think I've tried almost all of the 360 RPGs right?  I still have yet to find one thats anywhere near as good as the heyday PS2 RPGs much less the glory days of JRPGs during the PS1 era.  I was just falling over near classic JRPGs most of which were from Square during the PS1's run.  I would give about anything for a HD parasite Eve or Vagrant Story game.
