Forums - Sony - Will I be let down by Resistance 2?

Unreal Tournament III is a fun FPS, but again, it's mostly competitive-focused. There's an attempt at a campaign, which is basically a bunch of skirmishes tied together by a weak story.

Splitscreen and trophies just got patched in.

Call of Duty: World at War has co-op, not sure how good it is.

Battlefield: Bad Company, again no co-op, but a decent campaign and good multiplayer.

But try Killzone 2's competitive mode. It's not difficult, it just takes some getting used to.

Whatever you do, do not buy Far Cry 2. Ever. It is atrocious.

I....hate....Resistance 2.

It feels so lame in many ways. Like KZ2, it takes abit of shots to take down one guy but unlike KZ2, the animations are lame. And unlike KZ2, there's a few rare enemies that take multiple clips to bring down - they slow down the action and make things feel pretty dull sometimes. The Chimera's appearance themselves arn't very interesting - you're basically fighting typical "rawr I'm scary with sharp teeth" monsters.

Though the game is supposed to be about an epic last stand against an assault on Earth, you do alot of lone-fighting. There's never really a sense of war in the game. When you finally do get to the first (and only) large-scale battle, you'll see that it's done poorly, assuming your standards of quality arn't low.

The bosses in this game are all massive in size, yet bringing them down usually involves a repetative process. Some of them are even as simple as just unloading clip after clip....you wonder if you're actually doing any damage since the fight isn't changing at all, then the damn thing decides to randomly die. The bosses are a waste of potential, especially the Leviathan, which almost feels more like a long very interactive cutscene.

Seeing as you're not interested in online play, do not buy this game. Even if you do decided to play R2 online, they think that they can make up for the lack of quality by shoving 60+ players in the match. It's the ultimate "run'n'gun for beacons" experience.

I was at Target with a friend once and we some guy talkin to a friend, deciding whether to buy FEAR2 or R2. I replied with a "R2 is soooo bad". Unfortunetaly, he must've thought I meant bad as in "bad ass" and he ended up buying R2. I wanted to punch his kneecaps.

Though you've already played CoD4, I'd recommend CoD5. Yeah alot of people might disagree on this seeing as they're extremely similar but if you like co-op, CoD5's zombie mode is a blast with others. Of course R2 does have 8 player co-op, but it wasn't my thing - it felt half assed in certain areas but I won't get into that.

Don't buy R2, especially after just playing KZ2 - it'd be like eating some really great food, then eating broken pieces of glass afterwards.

Why so much R2 hate? Its no where near as bad as everyone is saying it is. I still play R2s co-op all the time. It would also help if you played R1 as well, just for the back story. Whatever you do though, stay away from the abomination that is COD:WAW, its co-op is terrible, nazi zombies are bad also. One of the worst purchases I've ever made. Basically only finished it for the trophies.

You won't be let down. Its a great game. Its not as realistic as killzone or Gears, its kind of like Halo.

Hah I should mention you'll be less disappointed with Resistance 2 then you were with the Lions 2009 season! hahaha.

I give you full respect for repping their logo in your avatar though. you are a true fan. 0-16 and you keep supporting them.

if you like FPS you owe it to your self to try R2.

have you tried KZ2 online(online co-op for KZ2 will come as DLC in near future)

No I have not played it online.  I play games for relaxation and enjoyment.  Getting my ass handed to me by a bunch of kids does neither of those for me.  I just can't dedicate the time to be competitive in versus online.  That's why I prefer online co-op.

well invite a friend and play against computer in the skirmish mode in KZ2.

what PS3 games do you have?(wanna give you some game recomendations)

KillZone2, MGS4, Resistance, Ratchet, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and The Darkness are what I have for PS3.

I've played most of the decent multiplatform games on the 360.

Also online co-op isn't a necessity.  It's just if i'm going to play online, I prefer it to be co-op.

Resistance 2 had a fantastic campaign imo.

Give it a try,It's not bad by any means. The co-op is better however.

Still a great game.

The SP is great in terms of Action sequences but the story is weak and it open more holes than it answer them from the first game but if you don't care go for it

the Online Co-op is cool it has a MMORPG feel to it you basically have 3 classes 1- is a healer 2- is a dude with great damage and can give ammo 3- a Tank who stands in front of his team and takes all the bullets with his shield

FPS isn't my kinda genre, but I did enjoy playing Resistance 2. I think the single player campaign wasn't as exhilarating as it could've been, but other than that everything is a plus in my book.

Currently playing: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, League of Legends
