I....hate....Resistance 2.
It feels so lame in many ways. Like KZ2, it takes abit of shots to take down one guy but unlike KZ2, the animations are lame. And unlike KZ2, there's a few rare enemies that take multiple clips to bring down - they slow down the action and make things feel pretty dull sometimes. The Chimera's appearance themselves arn't very interesting - you're basically fighting typical "rawr I'm scary with sharp teeth" monsters.
Though the game is supposed to be about an epic last stand against an assault on Earth, you do alot of lone-fighting. There's never really a sense of war in the game. When you finally do get to the first (and only) large-scale battle, you'll see that it's done poorly, assuming your standards of quality arn't low.
The bosses in this game are all massive in size, yet bringing them down usually involves a repetative process. Some of them are even as simple as just unloading clip after clip....you wonder if you're actually doing any damage since the fight isn't changing at all, then the damn thing decides to randomly die. The bosses are a waste of potential, especially the Leviathan, which almost feels more like a long very interactive cutscene.
Seeing as you're not interested in online play, do not buy this game. Even if you do decided to play R2 online, they think that they can make up for the lack of quality by shoving 60+ players in the match. It's the ultimate "run'n'gun for beacons" experience.
I was at Target with a friend once and we some guy talkin to a friend, deciding whether to buy FEAR2 or R2. I replied with a "R2 is soooo bad". Unfortunetaly, he must've thought I meant bad as in "bad ass" and he ended up buying R2. I wanted to punch his kneecaps.
Though you've already played CoD4, I'd recommend CoD5. Yeah alot of people might disagree on this seeing as they're extremely similar but if you like co-op, CoD5's zombie mode is a blast with others. Of course R2 does have 8 player co-op, but it wasn't my thing - it felt half assed in certain areas but I won't get into that.
Don't buy R2, especially after just playing KZ2 - it'd be like eating some really great food, then eating broken pieces of glass afterwards.
