Now that KZ2 release has come and gone the new talk on the sony forums has been about a game called infamous. I myself didnt no to much a bout the game but having read some of its buzz i decided to do some research on it the night before. After doing research on found out that the game does appeal to me the game reminds me of Bioshock/GTA/Gears which is great.
Recently i read a thread about if infamous will have as much hype as KZ2 did and i was shocked at the posts many said it wouldnt that a game called prototype will also be coming out at that time. I was like prototype wats that so i was upset b/c now i had to research this game to see wat its about i did even know if it was on the ps3. So i researched it and it also appealed to me but now im even more upset b/c im unsure on which one is more worthy of hyping up since they both come out at the same time.

InFamous follows the story of Cole McGrath, a bike messenger and resident of the fictional Empire City. At the start of the game, a package that Cole was assigned to deliver causes a huge explosion that rips apart six city blocks, leaving behind a crater and Cole as the only survivor. The explosion has granted Cole several electricity-based powers, but he falls into unconsciousness, waking up two weeks later to find that Empire City has fallen into chaos; without police, gangs have taken over areas of the city, and a plague has infected many of the residents causing the city to be quarantined by the government. It is revealed by "The Voice of Survival", a surviving disk jockey that broadcasts across the city, that Cole was the cause for the explosion, and thus setting the population of Empire City against him. Cole must come to terms with his powers, and opt to help those in need or simply survive on his own, facing off against larger threats that have manifested in the city due to the explosion and its aftermath.
According to Fox, the team wanted to have Cole as a "kind of an everyman", such that they could then "get into the headspace of what it would be like to be a real human being who has been granted these exceptional abilities". While Cole is the main playable character, he is joined by two friends; Zeke, a fellow bike messenger, conspiracy theorist and survivalist who becomes jealous of Cole's powers, and Trish, Cole's ex-girlfriend and medical student who resents him due to her sister being killed in the blast but still helps in treating the injured, a "Lois Lane with syringes" as stated by Sucker Punch.
InFamous is a sandbox video game. The player controls Cole and his newly acquired electrical powers as he makes his way around Empire City. Ultimately, the player will need to defeat three major forces that have each taken over one section of Empire City.
Cole's primary means of interaction is through the electricity-based powers. These include shooting electricity from his hands to nearby targets, creating an electricity-based shield to repel foes, and create a delayed explosion of a ball of energy much like sticky grenades. The electrical powers can be used both against living targets as well as inanimate objects; Game Informer describes one such situation where the player could opt to take out armed guards with electricity directly, or instead use the power on electrical generators to cause them to explode, damaging the guards in that fashion. However these powers also have considerable disadvantages and limitations: for example, Cole cannot use guns as the electricity would cause the ammunition to explode. Furthermore, Cole is unable to swim, as the interaction between electricity and water would be lethal. Also, Cole can only manipulate electricity, not generate it: meaning, for instance, that Cole's powers are severely limited in areas suffering from blackouts (which are in considerable number, since the city is recovering from a disaster).
Cole is also described as an urban explorer, and the player will be able to jump and climb buildings in order to move about the city, although these are not enhanced by any super-human ability.
As the player completes the main goals, side opportunities to help the citizens of Empire City will be presented; an example given by Game Informer includes a scenario where, on the way to defuse a bomb, the player is presented with a heavily injured woman that needs medical treatment; the option whether to stop and save her or to continue on will influence the development of Cole. This is tracked through a karma system which influences the growth of Cole's powers, some being enhanced by good deeds, while ignoring the pleas of the citizens will favor the growth of other powers. The karma system will also affect how the citizens react to Cole; if the player has helped citizens, they may come to Cole's help in certain battles, while in the contrary position, the citizens may flee as Cole approaches. However, the player is able to alter their karma and pursue the alternate direction should they want to

The main character is Alex Mercer, a genetically mutated shape-shifter. The game begins with Alex awakening on an autopsy table with no memory of his past. He sets out on a mission to regain his memory and find out what has happened to him. He breaks out of the morgue that he woke up in to roam the streets of New York City to discover the secrets of his past, contacting his sister for help. His efforts are hindered by a virus spreading through the city. The citizens in the infected areas of the city have experienced mutations, forcing military action. Project Blackwatch, an elite branch of the military specializing in biological outbreaks, is also sent in to help contain the outbreak. Alex fights both of these groups, constantly searching for any information that might help him piece together his own history.
The gameplay in Prototype is centered around Alex's superhuman abilities. Alex has superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability and healing as well as the abilities of consuming his fallen enemies, shapeshifting his body and easily moving in the New York City environment. Radical claims that there will be 750 "unique combinations" of powers. The game is set in 3rd person.
Alex is strong enough to throw cars with little effort, run at high speeds and jump great distances. He can climb, run up the sides of buildings and fall from great heights without damaging himself by way of gliding. His signature ability is to absorb the biomass of his fallen enemies. When he does this he gains the victim's memories, knowledge, and can change into their image whenever he chooses. He can also change his own biomass to emulate offensive, defensive or sensory tools.
When Alex consumes an enemy, he gains their memories, their biomass, and the ability to mimic their appearance. Consuming memories will help him unlock nodes of the Web of Intrigue and advance the story. He also consumes useful skills, eventually giving him the proficiency to pilot military vehicles and use various kinds of weaponry (so he can absorb 100 or even 1,000 years worth of information within the timespan of one week). Consuming dead foes and bystanders augments Alex's biomass, providing him with health and energy to perform devastating moves.
Alex's ability to shapeshift manifests in four different ways: Disguise, Attack, Defend, and Sensory. These abilities can be mixed together to provide Alex with several powers at once. For example, Alex could maintain an armored body while wielding clawed arms and using night vision. Over time, Alex can be upgraded to get more abilities.
To alter his appearance, all Alex has to do is "consume" a victim or an enemy, then he can assume their identity. This can be used to evade pursuit and deceive enemies. For example, if he consumes a soldier he can use his 'patsy' power and say that an innocent bystander is the culprit or freely enter a military base without challenge. Or if he consumes a higher ranking officer, he can freely commandeer military vehicles, call down airstrikes and order other soldiers. The disguise won't work once Alex starts attacking other soldiers though. The disguise aspect is useless when hiding from the Infected, as they attack humans without discrimination. An artical in GameInformer magazine also stated that the infected can see through Alex's disguises. And they will automaticly attack him if he comes near. As stated before, they attack any human[s] on sight. But they pay special attention to Alex.
Alex can use standard attacks like punches and kicks that can be charged up for more power and linked together for combos, and enhanced with biomass to do even more damage. He can also perform advanced techniques like air combat and execution moves which are used to consume people. Alex's body can assume nonhuman forms as well. His offensive transformations include forming clawed hands and blade-like arms, hammer-like appendages and sending his claws underground to cause spikes to burst up and impale enemies vehicles. Abilities can be upgraded for increased attack power by spending "evolution points". When Alex's energy meter is full he will be able to perform area-affecting "devastator" moves such as causing a large amount of spikes to shoot out of the ground or cause sharp tendrils to shoot from his body in all directions.
Alex can alter his body's defenses to resist damage or ward off attackers. Defenses include sharp spines protruding from his back, a forearm shield, and more. He can change his skin into armor plating that lets him bash his way through traffic instead of jumping over it and also gives him more protection from attacks, but slows his speed.
Alex can adjust his senses to perceive things in the environment that normal humans would be unaware of. These senses include infra-red, night-vision, thermal vision (which can double as an Infected Sensor and is the same thing as infra-red) and the ability to track individual enemies in a crowd (similar to Altair's Eagle Vision in Assassin's Creed).
Movement in Prototype is inspired by parkour. Alex will automatically maneuver around or through obstacles or straight up a wall of a fifty story sky scraper (depending on his current form), allowing the player to move him with ease using the simplified movement controls. This allows the player to be able to focus on combat, rather than maneuvering through crowds or jumping over cars while chasing a target.

Im leaning towards Prototype being a better game simply by the more things that u can do in it and i like the character and story more. Infamous seems to have some sort of cover system which i like, i don't know if prototype has though. I like the fact that you can shoot ur electric while hanging and then go back to hanging and other moments where it shows him ducking behind some low cover. I need to know a little bit more about each game to make i final decision on which one ill be buying maybe i'll buy both if they have different things to offer that appeal to me. Post which one u think will be a better game in terms of sales or game quality
