I have to applaud Microsoft for their continuous year-over-year sales growth in Japan. 1 million, I honestly never thought It'd make it back in 2005. Credit where credit is due!

This would have mattered 5 years ago, but Japan just isn't a big player anymore (unless you include handhelds, which Microsoft doesn't).
Congrats to MS for this, nobody thought they would hit 1 million

A huge accomplishment considering many thought it would never happen.
Well this isnt a great archievement
they had like 6-8 exclusive (& timed exclusive) JRPGs + the cheapest current-gen console on the market so 1 million isnt very much
otherwise japan isnt a big market anymore soo it doesnt matter
still congratz ms
| KillerMan said: Though they have spent huge amount money to achieve that 1 milj. consoles in Japan. I am not sure if that was worth of it. |
It's worth it to prove a point that you can work your way around ignorance.
its worth it because its sets things up perfectly for the next xbox out the gate the next xbox will have full support from japanese developers, can some one say metal gear and final fantasy, and when the japanese gamers see this the next xbox will sell even faster than 360,
so yea all the effort they are putting in now is worth it

Good for them. But this tells me they can't be too happy about Japan.
- The xbox 360 can still surpass ps3 this generation in japan the ps3 only have a 2 million lead on 360 that could be surpassed in one year so don't count 360 out yet, its a stretch but its still possible, all microsoft have to do is get a few more exclusives and they can do it, money talks.
Japan is a small market nowadays and insignificant for the console wars.
In 2008 the combined sales of Wii, PS3 and X360 were 46.4 million worldwide.
But only 4.14 million of those were in Japan.
That's only 8.9% of total sales.
