The question in the headline should be explained: we're not asking which console is "better" and it has nothing to do with sales. The question is designed for avid gamers and asks that if you consider every facet of a video game console purchase, would more hardcore gamers out there choose the PS3 over the 360 at this particular point in time? When the PS3 first launched, no real gamer immediately went out and paid $600 for what the console offered that day. I'm not saying gamers who bought it on launch day made a bad decision, but their thought process would've been very different in 2006 than it would be now, in early 2009.
Then, I know people who bought the PS3 thinking, "this is going to give me my RPG fix." Now, as a big RPG fan, I find myself continually turning to the 360 for that. Then, I really had no intention of going online at all with the PS3; if I was going to do that, it would be with the superior Live service. Now, I actually prefer the content on the PSN, and over the past few years, the free Network has made great strides. Then, the FPS and shooter fans all talked about Halo 3 and the impending Gears of War; now, Killzone 2 owns the headlines.
There's no doubt that things have changed significantly, so it'll be interesting to hear what people have to say. We have no choice but to view both systems in very different lights, if we're being honest with ourselves...and we have to be just that when considering a console purchase. Consumers have to think of it all. Then, Blu-Ray was a neat little novelty, but it was hardly a selling point. Then, Uncharted was an unknown name and Final Fantasy XIII was still a PS3 exclusive. Some things haven't really changed (the 360's reliability is still sh** and the PS3 is still too expensive), but a lot really has, so the question remains: taking it all in, would the real gamers out there choose the PS3 over the 360 at this current point in time? If you didn't then, would you now? Or perhaps your viewpoint hasn't altered...?
I believe the last major hurdle for Sony lies in the price, but beyond that, the PS3 appears to be in excellent position. I would never have said the same thing in late 2006 or early 2007. Who did? There has been such a major change in circumstances; I think it's important to ask this question again.

Although I disagree with this article some interesting points are raised, for example how Killzone 2 has changed the perception of the ps3 and more gamers are choosing the console due to its graphics. Personally both the ps3 and xbox 360 is the home for true hardcore gamers, if we look at sales than we can determine that the consumer is siding with the Xbox 360 as noted in the article price is a huge factor to consider.
It seems that with the recent release of Killzone 2, gamers perception and expection have changed, at the end of the day if youre lucky enough to own either console youre set for life both have the best libraries and savage third party support, and ever improving online services.
I want to ask has Killzone 2 changed the perception of Gamers, and are they now siding with the ps3 due to its graphics capabilities?
