Forums - Microsoft - Letting First Party Studios go...Is Microsoft Planning Something BIG?

It would be a good business move. If they bought Take Two (aka GTA) then that would be huge for them.

Just so you all know, systematically buying 3rd party publishers doesn't send a good message. Imagine the following:

EA Rep #1: "Due to the high sales of Grand Theft Auto IV on the 360, as well as the incredible sales of the downloadable content for it, Microsoft has purchased Take 2."

EA Rep #2: "Holy hell! We better not develop for the 360 anymore and give them any ideas!"

Believe it or not, 3rd party developers and publishers don't like being bought out. Nintendo probably could have bought dozens of companies already, but they didn't because they wanted to improve their relations with them. Microsoft may have bought a lot of developers when they entered the market with the Xbox, but thats only because they were going up against stiff competition and they knew it was the only way for them to survive.

I doubt Microsoft is going to buy a major company, and if they do, shame on them.

lol that is hilarious,a third party company is not going to stop making games for one of the major systems just because one of their competitors got bought out(especially ea).especially in these economical times

It was a dramatized example, unless you thought I was being entirely realistic.

When is e3 and when is GDC?

 June 1-4.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Going bankrupt is a good business move?

You really think Take Two want to be bought?

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

how would they go bankrupt just by buying take-two and they (T2) said they were open to any deal that offered them enough money

All of those studios make more money being able to do multiplatform games, it's not in their interests to be bought out and go microsoft only.
