Forums - Sales - SquareEnix continues to make an Ass out of itself.

Seriously i cant believe how idiotic some people here are, lets get this straight

Infinite Undiscovery - FFS, this is a MICROSOFT game, yes thats right, MS paid for this game to be made, its their own, get over it, they got SE to publish it so that they can maximise sales.

How has it sold, pretty nicely and its still selling. Given MS paid for it, and tri-Ace ended up with an engine, the game is a success

The Last Remnant - Seriously guys, just think, for one second, it wont take too long, BUT THIS GAME IS MULTIPLAT. They had enough trouble as it is getting it to run on the 360, what would it have been on the PS3? On top of that MS, decided to help market it, so they decided to maximise its sales first. And guess what, it sold 600k and its still selling, at this rate itll hit 700k easy

Star Ocean 4 - Now this is the only questionable one, but it has to do with tri-Ace getting funding for their engine, and on top of the fact that MS yet again paid for the marketing. Buh buh buh teh dropz! WHO CARES. The fact that it sold well in Japan is what matters, BUH BUH BUH TEH IP! Seriously Tales is an IP thats just as big if not bigger (offcourse fanboys will say its SO conveniently) and yet its opening was so strong that it beat that games lifetime in a single week. The drop-off while big, wasnt as low as ToVs yet ToV went onto sell 170k. Again, this game is a huge success in Japan

And to top it all off, North America happens to be MS stronghold and sorry to break your bubbles guys, but that is the market that matters most, and its a market that Sony are losing 2:1.

SE made ONE exclusive, thats right ONE, and its one game that MS happened to have part-funded. GET OVER IT

Has SE made a ps3 game yet?

Versus man, Versus. Really it will be out of history why they are making it, not because Sony did anything to deserve it (like funding).

How about you buy all of them and enjoy the full experience?

That is preciesly what I did.

I own all handhelds and consoles this gen, along with most of their top JRPG's, including the ones in the OP other than Infinite Undiscovery.

...and do you have both HD systems?

They just can't seem to get it through there thick skulls, either that or Microsoft is paying them millions upon millions of dollars to be either exclusive or released before the PS3 version.

What the hell anyway did Sony have sex with there wives or something, seems like they have a grudge over Sony, which is odd sinse Sony basically made square-enix thanks to the PS1 and PS2.

what!! Nintendo saved Square, without them there would be no SquareEnix, only Enix. Then they turned and ran to Sony, which they are doing the same now with Microsoft. History is repeating itself here, only they aren't moving to the console leader, just the company willing to pay the most.

But.....Square "ran" to Sony for techological reasons (CD vs. cartridge). There were things they wanted to do with FFVII that simply couldn't be done on the N64. FFVII went on to sell nearly 10 million, so support for the PS1 continued

Also, Nintendo screwed Squaresoft.  The reason why both FF2 and FF3 Famicon never made it outside of Japan at the time was because Nintendo didn't want competition from Squaresoft.  Also, where else was Squaresoft gong to turn to in those days since the NES covered 95% of the marketshare.

Square was happy right they are able to put out games and make a positive return. Then went to Sony because it was just right at the time. They are where they are right now because that felt right to them as well.

As you can see there is no better console this gen for JRPGs than the 360 unless your game is called pokemon.

Difference in marketing and publishers of Ps3 IPs and MS IPs is huge. VC was a new IP from sega with no marketing that managed to sell half of MS best RPG that had a great deal of advertising and hype. WKC was only released in Japan from Level 5, which are good RPG devs but not widely known.

It's a simple fact those games would sell a lot more on PS3 due to JP sales, theres no way arguing around that. Americas sales aren't as important in RPGs and with a name like SE the brand recognition brings in JP sales wether it sucks or not. I'm not sure what people are trying to argue here, fanboy or not you can't deny it would have a lot more sales and bring in a better profit from software if it were on Ps3.

i guess that the ps3 fans are mad to SE because of all this games being exclusives and all, but i think that what made them explode even more was when they announced FF13 for 360 but i think that what make the ps3 fans way more mad is they way they announced it. first they PUT in all trailers of the game ps3 exclusive and then suddenly in the E3 MS conference not even in their own conference they announce that it will be multiplatform and to top it all they delay the ps3 version to release it simultaneusly, so they lied to everyone and they gave a slap in the face and in the back to SONY. if you are not sure to how many platforms the game is coming then dont announce the game exclusive to one console, but one question. why didnt they delay the 360 version of the last remnant too to release it simultaneusly like they did with FF13?. i dont know but for me SE and MS have some kind of love money relationship, but i think all games should be multi including versus.

If you mean supporting multi-platforms, both handheld and consoles, then yes.  Because in the bigger picture, they need all the help they can get.  As a former Squaresoft fanboy, the company now known as SquareEnix is nowhere hear where it used to be since the late PSOne days.  SquareEniix just doesn't have the impact they used to have anymore with more fierce competition from all developers and deviating from their fanbase unlike Nippon Ichi, Gust, and Atlus thus far.

Yet the benefit will be to both Sony and SE.

Man, these SE releases being 1) of kinda low quality on average and 2) on 360, are really helping to lay SE low for the time being.  But I guess the money was there up front.

SE really needs to get XIII out (it'll be a while...) and it needs it to be a hit.

Well I do. I bet Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and probably even The Last Remnant & Infinite Undiscovery wouldn't do better if they were PS3 exclusives.

Now it's obvious that the PS3 version of TLR will lose against the 360 version, but even with a simultaniously release I think the 360 version would have won.

SE,win monye ,microsoft win monye ..the game fans of jrpg enjoys ,what s you problen with this,.?
