Forums - Microsoft - slowdown issues with sega megadrive collection on Xbox 360

I have a question, I was going to buy sega megadrive collection on the Xbox360 when I get a bit more money. However, I decided to demo it at my local HMV today and found that all the games were running a lot slower than they did on the megadrive like a bad emulation. I have a sneaking suspition it was due to the ancient store machine they used but I can't be sure. It's a bit of a dealbreaker if it is slower because I want the games how the originally played.

Does anyone own the game? if so does your copy have an issue with running slow?

I have it and haven't noticed any slowdown ingame

Didn't have any problems with my copy.

No, runs fine on mine. I have yet to try all the games but all of the Sonics, Golden Axes, and E-SWAT run fine.

So they do run the same speed as they did on the megadrive. It must have been the stores machine. Thankyou guys

Anyone know if there is a way to get the games to run in widescreen?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Remember guys, hes talking about Mega Drive Collection, not Genesis Collection. I'm not sure if they did anything, but in old days when they were making PAL version of games, in order to put 60hz -> 50hz, instead of doing some work, they actualy only slowed the game for 16.something%. Thats also how many (or some) PAL Virtual Consoles games run. For example, my Phantasy Star IV (on PAL Wii) runs slower. Even the soundtrack is slower, making it not so cool :(

edit: had to edit some ugly grammar mistakes ^^

Oh, I didn't realize.

Any Mega Drive Collection owners who can testify?

Oh, whoops my bad. I am also a Genesis Collection owner.

If you hit the back button and go to display options there is an option to enable both widescreen and "smoothing".  These games weren't designed with widescreen in mind so in effect it will just stretch the screen to fit the TV.  The smoothing option is like an artificial AA that while calming the jaggies a little it also makes some of the text hard to read.  It's effecitiveness varies game to game.
