It isn't just the price cut, but last year the 360 had little to no supply for the first 3 or 4 months of the year.  Walmart basically didn't have any in stock (atleast in my area) and if you got a 360 it was pretty much on line if you were lucky.

Not just for the irony but the comparison is genuinley interesting - it's exciting to see how big the X360's peak year will be compared to 2008, especially since consoles usually peak earlier in their life and many people predicted the X360 would peak in 2007 already and just go down from there.

So far 2009 has been amazing for the X360.

The Xbox 360 is doing so well, may it remain that way! Heres to massive sales 2009 AND 2010 because the Xbox 360 can.

Hmm we're reaching the 4 year mark so LTD sales between the 360 and Xbox 1 will be directly comparable. The 360 should have at least 10M over the Xbox 1 by then.

I am not sure if 2009 will result in a 60% increase over 2009, but I believe it is possible for that to happen, if there is another price cut to match Sony's expected price cut, and if M$ has a few more exciting games on tap....not really for 2009, but just in the ticker. Anyway, good thread...

59.2% increase is incredible, if Microsoft announces great new IP, additions to the Xbox LIVE service, more casual games and another price cut to match PS3's price cut could keep 60% increase YoY. Microsoft could definately do LTD 40 Million for the Xbox 360 with all of those things.
