People SO4 is already the second best selling 360 game in Japan after two weeks and is only weeks away from being the best selling 360 game in Japan so its hardly a flop. The only console JRPG that is close to selling 1 million copies this generation is Lost Odyssey and that's on the 360.

lets say you are a game dev. and you last game sold 550k in japan. now it will break 200k not much more. would you be happy. same title got about 2mil ww now it will maybe get 1mil... would you be happy

They knew it wouldn't sell millions of copies to begin with because so far this generation no console JRPG has sold millions and all the people that claim it would sell better if it would be on the PS3 are wrong also just look at the sales for Eternal Sonata for the PS3 it sold a lot less then the 360 version even though it was a superior port with extra content.

it was also a mediocre game, a year late, and full price get better material. look at wkc gonna settle at about 350k on par with level 5 games. mgs4 on par with mgs3. yakuza 3 sold more than yakuza 2 first week disgea 3 on par with 2 VC more than usual SRPGs . see a pattern?

Sales of SO4 are terrible. In Japan, it dropped off tons, and it opened horribly in America. This game is a tank. At least if it was multi-plat, it could have doubled what it sold in Japan, or maybe even more. It looks like WKC may outsell Star Ocean 4 worldwide if it gets a NA and EU release. If that happens... :)

SE needs to get it through their heads that every game (IU, TLR, SO4, FFvsXIII, etc. ) all need to be multi-plat.

@Rei

You were wrong about WKC first week AND lifetime sales in Japan even after first day sales were announced. What makes you so confident you will be right about its worldwide sales...?

Well sorry I am not able to always predict with 100% accuracy. I bet you are.

   WKC Japan = 334.000, this week sales = 1500.

   My prediction = 310.000

Even if I am again +-10% off this wont change anything.

If you look at the percentage of Japanese 360 owners that own SO4 and compare that to the percentage of Japanese PS3 owners that own WKC. SO4 is already doing a lot better then WKC. SO4 is already at 20% attachment ration compared to 11% for WKC.

I think it's far too early to really be proclaiming anything. Do we know what Star Ocean 3's launch was like in NA? PAL?

We only have 3 weeks worth of data - 1 NA week, and 2 JP weeks. That's really not enough to base a lot off of. Is 60k in NA a disappointment? Yes. All we can do is hope that the NPD adjustments push it higher.

Nevertheless, Star Ocean 4 had the 2nd best NA launch, and the best JP launch of any 360 JRPG. PAL will be an interesting launch, but we'll have to see.

BTW, if your going to bash SO4 sales on 3 weeks worth of data, we might as well begin to bash failzone 2, as well. Since it was a massive dissapointment with it's budget costs.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Please do not use an attach rate argument to defend the dreadful sales of this game.

Guess what?  SE doesn't care about attach rates, they care about units shipped/sold, and it's selling horribly, so it's shipping horribly.  You can't put attach ratios into your bank account.

weren't you basing the success of WKC off of a single day of sales?  Seems hypocritical to now tell people that they have to wait a while before they make assumptions.

What budget costs?  You work at GG and know how much it costs right?

Don't bash because you have no defense, bash based off of information that is true, not speculation.  The truth is that KZ2 has sold comprably to CoD: WaW first week, so it's by no mean a failure, while Star Ocean 4 has sold horribly, and had a horrible opening, and is done selling in Japan aside from 20-50k more on top of this weeks total.

Don't fail.

Thinking that, is still better hoping that something fails.

I agree. That's why it's so pathetic of you to wish a terrible sales to 360 jRPGs.

Dreadful sales are you kidding me I already mentioned it earlier that SO4 is already the second best selling 360 games in Japan after two weeks.
