My initial reaction to "750k" was shock at how low it was. Then I realised it was a PS3 game!

Theres a massive difference in the sales of the top games between the two consoles.

The PS3 has merely got a single 5M seller.

The Xbox 360 may add a 10M seller to its ranks before the PS3 adds another to go along with the other 5, 5M+ sellers (Gears/CoD 5 will be there shortly)

Gears 1 was also the 360's first really BIG game, what else was out there? It was the first game most people played around that time. First BIG game + Holiday release, you figure it out.

Anyone acting like 750k is a bad "first week" is out of their minds in my opinion. Especially when this is what most people on this site predicted.

While Ps3 owners buy Everything. mostly JRPG's

I was initially skeptical of the OP. But I gotta say you actually did a decent job of analyzing sales.

As gamers we should be happy that new benchmarks are always being set. In this case I would say it's a new graphical benchmark for a console FPS. This will drive competition and ensure that everyone will get better games in the future whether you own a ps3 or 360.

At that point it was already an established franchise with a large fanbase.

Killzone 2 is a sequel coming off a mediocre game that had total sales less than half of Gears 1 sales.

Plus Holiday release.

???? Seriously, that doesn't make sense. I would say that almost all PS3 owners buy Blu Ray discs, aside from that JRPGs haven't exactly done brilliantly on that platform.
