"Go buy the new Fire Emblem game!!!"

If someone could only help me get into this series or genre I would certainly pick this up.

I threw myself in the deep end by just buying the Wii version and playing on the harder of the difficulty settings it offered.

I died on turn 1, but now I'm killing folks like no-one's business.

Dude, I was so thinking about buying the Wii version of Fire Emblem but I'm just thinking that this series requires a lot of skill and time.

The cost of these games should be low given the low technical requirements and the recycling of old game mechanics.  I should think that 300k worldwide sale should be very profitable.  A 30k US sales should easily justify production cost and translation works.

I have not finish the game yet but it is awesome.  The only complains that I have is that there has not been too much conversations amongs the characters in the first few scenarios.

I understand Shadow Dragon has some pretty easy settings which are a good way to get introduced to the game (haven't cracked open my copy yet).

Another cheap and easy way to get into SRPGs would be to download Shining Force off the virtual console. The mechanics are a lot simpler and you can grind if you have to.

I'm playing a chapter or 2 of the DS one every day, and as we speak my roommate is playing the one on the Wii.

A few minutes ago she asked "Hey do you have any turn-based strategy games like that card game we played last night?" She started on easy, and is going through the tutorial right now.

Should I be reclassing anybody? I haven't yet. I'm on chapter 8 or 9 or so. Is it worth it if their stats go up a bunch but they lose all their weapon skillz?

There are many different difficulty settings, and believe me, easy is easy.

I'd start with the Gamecube one, it's an amazing game! The Wii one is also the sequel to that, so that's even more reason to pick up the GC one.

But the DS one is a remake of the first one EVARR, and is a good way to get to know Marth, the mystery man from the Smash Bros. games, and it's portable. I don't know if you guys spend as much time on the bus as I do, but that's a huge help for a game like this.

After playing advance wars (wow that was great), I'm gonna test the DS version since the Wii is always occupied.

There will be a sequel. The question you should really be asking si, 'will it come out outsude japan?'. I would like to say yes but given its sales outside of japan and now Nintendo's complete lack of care about their fans or core gamers in general it seems doubtful.
