Forums - Nintendo - Booo for nintendo and the classic controller

Alright, well maybe it's Nintendo of America's fault more than anything, but it's all the same company to me. I can't count the number of games that have come out there and never come here.

Also, how is it that just about every game comes out in Japan first? (yes I know there are a handful that come out here first, but it's pretty uncommon).

Uh-Oh! Time to import!

Seriously, I wonder if those controllers will be compatible with NA & European Wiis.

yes, it should be compatible especially since it only needs to plug into the bottom of the Wii Remote.

The only thing not compatible between the different regions

1) region locking, which is implimented in software/firmware (this may extent to Blu-tooth compatible divices, but probably doesn't)

2) PAL/NTSC output of the console, which you can overcome with a converter or compatible TV.

Doesn't, hardware is compatible (wiimotes, nunchucks, balance board, wii speak), it's software that isn't.

I have an american nunchuck and it works perfectly. If you wanted this, just import it.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Why not get the nyko controller that is identical, infact Nintendo copied it.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Most japanese developed games come out in Japan first, while western developed games typically come out about the same time world wide, or in the west first followed by Japan. It just happens that you notice the Japanese games coming out there first since you have interest in them, but can not buy them.

Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Halo, Call of Duty, Burnout, Madden, Tiger Woods, the entire Imagine seires of games and many more all came out in either America or Europe before Japan.

To steal from the comments of the Gamespot article that posted the original news:

Is Nintendo's decision possibly influenced by that Anascape lawsuit from a few years ago?

If you recall, NoA is still fighting a patent lawsuit on the classic controller. So it may not want to bring over something else right now.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

@nordlead

Ya you're probably right, I'm pretty big into RPG's, so I guess I tend to focus on them more. Clearly the solution is that I need to mod my Wii and learn Japanese :)

lol, You gotta love it when you get sued and the drawing in the patent are actually drawings of your own controllers (they had a SNES and N64 controller).

Anyways, that is a very good point, as until this is settled it may come across bad for them to the jury if they were to bring this out while in the middle of the suit.

Slightly OT, but re: your 2nd point, isnt there a display setting to choose between PAL and NTSC output? I'm pretty sure I set mine to NTSC once to overcome a bug in Rayman Raving Rabbids :)
