To steal from the comments of the Gamespot article that posted the original news:
Is Nintendo's decision possibly influenced by that Anascape lawsuit from a few years ago?
If you recall, NoA is still fighting a patent lawsuit on the classic controller. So it may not want to bring over something else right now.
