Forums - Microsoft - Never Again Microsoft. Your Technical Assistance Is Non Existent IMHO.

It's time you gave up on the 360 and buy a PS3. Killzone 2 is the best FPS ever made, if you didn't know. PS3 is th3 awesome.

OT: Put a game in the drive. Get a hard, thin piece of cardboard. Slide it through the top slit of the DVD drive and slide it left and right, trying to pry the spindle loose. If it is the spindle stuck, it should fall down and work again. Eject the disc and close it again.

It didnt work for mine. I think my laser is burnt up.

That sounds interesting pbroy.
It will read games on and off I may have to open and close tray several times and then bang it works.
Then you knock it off and same again altough you may not always get it to read.

Thats not very mature. You as a consumer have responsibility for keeping the security of our products. Sony and Microsoft both have shitty service.

That's kind of crazy...

Did you try the online option?

I'm just curious. I've dealt with them myself twice (once early Xenon model) and a more recent one around November for an E70 error. Both times for me were done very quick. Sorry to hear you're having problems.

I do know how frustrating it is. I've had to deal personally with 2 of the big 3. Right now I'm having to deal with Sony wanting $90 to fix my 32-day old PSP and it's a pain in the ass. I refuse to pay for it and customer service is getting me nowhere. One positive note is that I have been dealing with service in the US (so far).

The Microsoft repairs themselves have both been done pretty quick with no issues. I have however had to call them about doing a license transfer on my most recent repair because I was still under the 12-mo window from my previous transfer. I went through 4 "levels" of technical support and every single one was as incompetent as the first. They finally had a manager look at it off the phone and called me 3 days later to know it had been resolved.

To those complaining about the "racist" comments it has nothing to do with racism. When dealing with underpaid undertrained individuals who are reading literally from a technical step-by-step manual in a hard to understand accent it makes things very frustrating.

I have the same exact problem with license transfer after repair.  I agree with OP 100%, Microsoft customer service suck ball.  They are still trying to resolve this issue, after about 3 phone calls.

I log my repair in via Xbox.com but my console was out of 1 years warranty so for some reason the site told me to call for repair.  Strangely that day, I got a rep that is in the US.   (I was really surprise, I though Microsoft has change their call rep but it seems they are back out sourcing to South Asia again).  The repair was quick and I got my machine back less than 10 days but apparently the monkey forgot to flip the switch to transfer my licensed...

Basically I booked and paid for a repair on the 09/02/09 and since then up to and including at present 04/03/09 I am still awaiting my labels to be sent out to me.
I have phoned about 15 times in that period. Have spoken to about 5 supervisors. Have been put on hold several times for more than 15 minutes and eventually hung up.

At this stage having been told so many times that the problem has been sorted I am just fed up.
I have cancelled my live account on Xbox and will not renew it.
I now have to get it repaired myself having waited 3 and a half weeks for nothing to happen.

Today I have drafted a letter to my credit card company to get them to refund my card..
I have never experienced such gross incompetence in my life.

How can they expect people to stay with them when this sort of thing is happening.
Anyone on the site who is even slightly aware of my posting history will know I have always defended them but after this never never again.

Come on and buy a PS3. It can replace that broken 360 for years to come! Halo? Psh try resistance on for size. Gear of War? Psh try Killzone 2 on for size. :] But really. I have NEVER had a console break. Between NES, SNES, GEN, SCD, Saturn, PS1, PS2, Wii, and my PS3. I have never had one break on me. This gen though half the people with a system have something wrong!

I have to agree.  I am stuck with Hughesnet where I live as my only real broadband option and tech support is in India.

The comments about getting someone with an Indian accent were not racist at all.  If you have ever had to deal with someone who doesn't speak English as their primary language, then you would understand.

It's not just the accent that is hard to understand, it's getting these people to understand what you are trying to say.  They don't understand the nuances of our language anymore than we understand theirs.  If you tell them anything other than "I have RRoD" or something like that that they can see on their screen, they say "Yes, ok." and you hear them clacking away on their keyboard.  Then they put you on hold, come back a minute later and try to get you to do something that has absolutely ZERO to do with the issue at hand!

In the end, the Playtation 3 will win.

My Elite just went E 74 on me.

One graphical hiccup yesterday and then this morning multiple problems before the single red light and E 74. Restarting the console clears problem initially but then it all goes pear shaped again.

So I called xbox support and I am now waiting for someone from UPS to pick it up from me (they will hopefully provide the label when they collect). I hope this goes smoothly.....

@tmbh... if you have gotten that far.. ups... you are home and dry.

That's what reask thought.

Actually I change my post. Buy a PSP 2000. You'll be in emulation/homebrew heaven. Fix your 360. Valkyria Chronicles is the best PS3 game ever. Don't buy a PS3 for Killzone 2, buy a PS3 for Valkyria Chronicles. Pray that Sega releases a Trophy patch. Then your done. Use your PS3 to watch awesome Blu-ray movies. One you go black, you never go back... to watching DVDs that is.

Or don't even fix your 360. Use it as a Netflix watching machine. Who needs games, when you have Netflix.

PS3 for Blu-ray, 360 for Netflix. What else do you need?

Unless you don't live in the US. Microsoft hates you.. no Netflix for you!!!

@all tech support in general

a) His statement was not racist

b) There is a general incompetence with all these call centers. 99% of the time the person you are talking to has no idea what is going on other than what his script tells him. EX: Caller: Hello, I have such and such problem. Tech: (turns to page 34) reads script.

Very rarely do you get someone who knows anything real or really cares about anything other than keeping their calls up.

As some suggested, if you have the ability to order support online, do it. The one time in 3 years I needed support, it was handled promptly.
