IGN has Final Fanatasy 4 as the best RPG of all time.

So I imagine they'll come to the conclusion it is.

Or FF4 is vastly underated... and Chrono Trigger and 6, and Baldurs gate.

As for personal opinion.

It's the biggest disapointment i've ever had in gaming. 

I bought a PS2 soley for it... and i was sorely disapointed.

Luckily SE made Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission 3... and the Ogre games got released on PS1.

And didn't know 80% of the game were going to be blockmen who somehow looked worse then the previous 2D sprites.

To me retro games can be as good and graphics don't matter I do consider how great it was at that time... Like FF6, is a masterpiece, imo. For a game on the SNES it was way over everything else that was put on it. Graphic, story, character, music, gameplay... Everything.

So about FF7, I played it much later than anyone else... About 2-3 years ago. I heard so much praise about it so I wanted to see what it was all about.

While it's certainly not a bad game -I enjoyed it- I wasn't extremely impressed nor praising it either. I have many gripes about the game but I don't feel like getting into details. Anyway, I thought it would be much better. So yes I do think it is overrated.

Count me in that it's overrated by the players who were introduced to the FF7 first. I firmly believe that the majority of players with older FF history will not say FF7 is the best. I will also continue like others to chose 4 and 6 as better. Though I also really liked 12.

I do however enjoyed FF7 a lot due to the new direction and atmosphere.

I have never played FF7 but I saw videos of it and it really doesn't look nothing breathtaking, in change when I saw videos about FF6 I was amazed and I needed to buy the game.
