Forums - Sales - Activision Revenue for 2008 - MMORPG #1, PS #2, Wii #3

The Wii numbers are more evidence that the NPD numbers which show Guitar Hero 3 selling far more on Wii than Xbox 360 are more accurate then the VGChartz numbers which show the Wii only outselling the Xbox 360 version by a little amount. The Wii versions of Guitar Hero games may even be outselling the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions combined.

I am not sure I follow you on this. Considering this is profit (net revenue not gross revenue) and considering it is for all Activision games. There is more to Activision than Guitar Hero. For example, Call of Duty which is selling better on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (though the Wii is starting to sell better).

The fact that Call of Duty sells so much better on the HD consoles is more evidence which points to the same conclusion.

I tend to believe that Wow success is actually due to attracting a lot of casual older folks ( by older I mean 27+) which tend to play less games and as a result tend to switch games less often, this is I belive the crowd that is the most stable in Wow and for which Blizzard actually has the least workd to do to keep it happy.

You left out one of the features that I think helps it more with that crowd, and is I think partly behind the stability your talking about.  It has extremely moderate hardware requirements.  Just about any PC will play it.  This  helps with non-traditional PC gamers who are not going to update their PC all the time to play a game.

That's true, I raid hardcore every week with people that have 4-5 years old computers and that is about as intensive for computers as Wow can get and those people are fine..

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Some narrow minded developers think they're above supporting old systems or even new systems just because it doesn't suit them, especially when you hear the things that come out of some peoples mouths like "We move forward not backwards" ;)
