Forums - Gaming - Gamepro -- Killzone 2 VS Halo 3 (Is KZ2 a Halo Killer?) YES IT IS!!

madkiller said:
They are two entirely different games with Halo 3 being released a LONG ass time ago and KZ2 just came out. This is not even close to a fair comparison from the get go. Newer games should have improvements, if not those developers suck. However, many things are wrong with the comparison anyway. Halo 3 has the advantage in multiplayer because of many reasons like having way more people, way more maps, and way more stuff to do...

KZ2 was created to take out Halo, hence why it will always be a Halo vs KZ2 war.

Wake me up when the KillZone franchise ...

Serves 1 billion customers

Gets Pepsi-Cola created a variant of one of their drinks for the game

Has 7-Eleven sell KillZone Slurpees

When Burger King has special promotions featuring Helghast and KillZone designs and/or logos

Appears in a NASCAR race - a KillZone inspired paintjob

Has its main theme song as a downloadable track on Guitar Hero or Rock Band

Gets at least 6 novels and a couple graphic novels

And even has political pundits like Keith Olbermann talking about it as his top story

Gets $300M first week sales

Until then, after playing it several hours and earning trophies, it's an awesome game, but why compare it to a game that came out nearly 2 years ago? I would hope it did better - but still - it may (I was blinded by fanboy bias in the *writer's* comparison post) outpace it but KillZone will never, ever have that kind of following.

A better game? Maybe. (fix'd)

A better franchise? Not even in the same galaxy.

You're just as bad as the guy that wrote the article in the OP.  Every bullet point you listed is nothing more than marketing, and is no gauge whatsoever of the quality of the game.  All it shows is how much Microsoft spent on advertising.

You're just as bad as madskillz if you didn't buy the Killzone novels, eat the Killzone burget whilst slurping on the Killzone variant of rasberry soda as you watched the Killzone coloured nascar race round the track in circles.

LOL, really? It was? Says who? Cuz I haven't heard Sony or anyone that had anything to do with making the game ever say that...

Sony, apparently Gamepro now, Ign and more. You're lost if you didn't know. KZ2 was created for the purpose of trying to outsell and bring the shooter base to Sony as the helm game.

article was complete biased towards killzone 2 , killzone 2 cant complete with halo 3's multiplayer area at all or replay value, or enemies or weapons,i would have given every round to halo3 why, because based on the game verus killzone 2, it wins easly on all facets. killzone 2 is a very good fps game, the best on the ps3 by far. the graphics are very good, overall game is well done. just not up too halo series or halo 3's epic scope. now if guerilla games , can reproduce this work on a 3rd entry into the series, then killzone series can be taken more seriously towards the halo franchise. the only halo killer is "halo 4".

This is almost exactly what i've been saying, besides the all facets part. Graphics goes to KZ2 for sure. It's just for realistic and modern. Playing KZ2 made me wonder how great the graphics of the next Halo will be. This should be interesting.

Advertising WON'T make people play the game to the tune of a billion...any fool should be able to see that...

I dunno, but I remember around 2004 hearing about Sony boasting KZ as the "Halo killer" around E3. They had the Xbox on all fronts besides having a decent shooter on the PS2.
