abandoning umd is the most senseless thing they can do

Without a UMD drive it is likely that the 3000 and 4000 models will co-exist with the 4000 model playing downloadable games exclusively. An interesting concept that will require a flawless execution that would be unusual for Sony.

Whoo! PSP in picture confirmed?

Something _like_ the picture seems likely. But that mockup has a few problems with it. One it'd be a bitch to hold and play. Second its got two analog nubs (which apparently the PSP-4000 wont). Third the screen its too tall, the new model is supposedly going to keep the exact same screen as the 3000 has.

Does anyone else think sony is going to launch a psp-4000 and a psp-4000 phone model simultaneously (like an ipod touch/iphone sort of deal)? There have been rumours floating around about a PSP phone, and this new model seems to be by far the most significant psp redesign yet, like they're designing a more gaming-orientated mobile powerhouse.
