Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I don't see why nintendo is to blame here. Good reading though.

Rol I'm not sure I share your faith in third parties. Clearly, Nintendo has kicked them in the stones too hard for them to recover.

Nintendo is destroying the industry, just not in the way we expected!

I need a bean bag chair.

Nintendo needs to get on the ball and start making some demands of its developers. At the very least it should demand 480p, widescreen, and proper expressive motion control. I'd prefer to see them refuse to license games with CC/GC controller support; when the devs are forced to develop decent motion interfaces, they will do so, and their games will be better as a result. But Nintendo doesn't have the guts to do that; they couldn't even make the coward Sakurai develop a proper interface.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

A nice presentation has always made up for mediocre substance in the past. Taking that away does hurt the capabilities of a lot of 3rd parties, though not the ones who are the most adamantly opposed to Wii (namely Bethesda and Epic, who generally make games both good and pretty). It certainly cripples a company like iD, which has always relied on engine capabilities to carry the day

It was quite cruel of Nintendo.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Many third party developers use advanced graphics and high production values as a crutch to compensate for the uninspired, outdated and often unfun gameplay mechanics of their games, and I suspect that many of them are reluctant to produce Wii games because it would demonstrate how mediocre their games really are ...

I always see these kinds of posts from nintendo fans. So exactly whats your idea of inspired, dated and fun gameplay? You do realize that there different genres of games? If you don't like a genre, move on.

Dumping the seal of quality and letting any old fucker be a publisher hasn't helped...

I agree, but it needs an easier story mode.
