@dolemit

then VGC might be overtracking with that 750K figure!!!

ZOMG!

but the fact that it sold less than GT5P in UK doesnt mean that it sold less in all of europe so the first week might still be bigger than GT5P. wait am i right??.

wow, so sad for halo wars. i mean, yeah, kz2 has had a ton of hype and i'm really glad it is doing well....but c'mon, halo wars is a halo game which i believe is the second largest franchise atm behind gta. i really thought the halo name was stronger than this.

What Darth failed to mention (3 guesses why?) that supposedly Halo Wars sold nearly 20% of what Halo 3 sold in it's first week. So if that is true and is a worldwide figure will mean Halo Wars could potentially have sold nearly 750k worldwide, making it the fastest selling RTS game, beating the previous C&C3:TW by 3 to 1. Of course that figure depends on if that trend is actually worldwide or not. If we use the C&C numbers Halo Wars will have at least sold 300k worldwide.

The other interesting bit of info Darth failed to mention, KillZone 2 marks the first Sony game to hit number one in 2 years. Who would of thought that?

Its all in the opening paragraph in the OP

don't blame me for not reading the OP properly yourself

Well, gaf is extrapolating based on old charttrack numbers saying Halo Wars sold about 80k, and that Killzone 2 is somewhere between that and 108k (GT5P week 1) for UK.

Chart-Track have since given Halo 3 first week at 411k (extrapolated). They're basing it off of the "sold to a third of X360's 1.4m installed base" given in Chart-Track's blurb during Halo 3 release week which was rounded up by quite a bit.

108k was non-extrapolated first week number for GT5:P, it's 120k extrapolated (Chart-Track cover 90% of UK retail).

2. Casual Halo fans, the real majority here, those who only want a Halo shooter to PWN 50M3 N00820R5 W17H H34D5H075, they're usually in school or college (frat boys included), they don't want to know about a RTS, in fact a lot of them are trying Halo Wars because they don't know is not a shooter, some will like it most of them wont...

AND 4. Shooter fans who don't like RTS, they won't buy Halo Wars for any reason...

what a  retarded comment

And may i askwhat part of my post was retarded???

----------------------------------------------------

@mrstickball, im not bashing Halo Wars, i'm playing it and i hope that it does well, because the RTS genre needs to grow... I was just answering kitler why Halo Wars won't sell as much as a main Halo title...

halo wars sales are pretty damn good and extremely great for a console rts game.

Thanks for the clarification.

Solid numbers for both I think.

‘Killzone 2’ becomes the 4th fastest selling Sony published title ever in the UK (2nd fastest on PS3 behind ‘GT5 Prologue’).

Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 4’ (PS2) becomes only the fourth title to sell more than a quarter of a million in a launch week, becoming the 4th fastest selling game ever behind ‘San Andreas’, ‘Vice City’ and ‘Halo 2’. Sony’s ultra-realistic car racing game almost squeezed past Halo 2 (260k total market units) and nearly outdid the combined launch week sales of Gran Turismo 1, 2 and 3 (285k total market units).

Link

Killzone 2 outsold the first three Sony published Gran Turismos which sold a combined 285k, or 95k on average in opening week. It's unlikely that they all sold 95k first week, some would be higher, some would be lower, but still, it gives an absolute lower limit for KZ2 of 95k. KZ2 should be around 110k +/- 10k this week.

Sony published fastest sellers

1 Gran Turismo 4 PS2 (~255k)
2 The Getaway PS2 (~140k)
3 Gran Turismo 5: Prologue PS3 (120k)
4 Killzone 2 PS3 (~110k)

I'd really love to know why people are bashing the sales of a console based Real Time Strategy game.

Has ANYONE ever bothered looking at the sales history of Real Time Strategy games? C&C3? C&C: RA? LOTR:BFME2? EndWar? They are pretty bad.

Then we get Halo Wars which has sold around 200,000 units between Europe and Japan on Week-1, and that's BAD? Do you realize it may outsell every RTS in just 1 week? How is that bad?

Having a console RTS million seller, Halo or not, is a very large feat. Name the last RTS that sold over a million? Heck, Halo Wars may outsell every console RTS combined that the 360 has ever offered. Is that not a feat?

 Do you consider Pikmin to be an RTS?

@BKK2

I feel the UK to EU ratio won't be the same as Killzone 2 was BIg in netherlands apprntly
