Forums - Sony - GTA 5 To Be PS3 Bound? By Megaman2

i worked on a game recently wot was released in the last week on 360 and ps3 only, and we had to cut parts on the 360 version because we couldnt get the ps3 verison running at the same refresh rate also its so expensive in time to program and decode tht the game suffered, companys have to make money so y make an over expensive game to 20 mill consoles wen u can make a game on an easier console to program and port it over as a multi platform there is 8 million more xboxs, and mgs4 is an exclusive due to the fact tht a contract was signed wen the ps and ps2 was at there heights if the do follow on the seris 100% be a multi platform just like gears of war 3

I'm pretty sure you can't even spell the words "Game Designer" let alone work in the same building as one on a game.

Riight .. you know companys exist to make money. I'm sure they're not going to turn down the millions of copys that could be sold on the 360.

If GTA5 is going exclusive ... it will be 360 exclusive.

How do you explain Konami making MGS 4 exclusive? or how so many companys make games for the PS360 but not the Wii?

OT: They would be able to do much more greater things if it was PS3 exclusive, or like others said make the X360 version multiple disk.

Stupid move by Konami. They could have made the PS3 version and then ported down to the 360. It would have resulted in more sales.

Stupid? No. Not everyone cares JUST about the money, u shouldn't do a job solely for the money. Konami and Kojima wanted to make the best game possible and for that they needed to do it only for the PS3, and that applies for every game really as the PS3 offers miles more space and a hell of a lot more graphical and computing power. So no, it wasn't stupid, rather the opposite.

Well you try telling that to the shareholders?

and you completly missed the point, they could make the PS3 version as it stands now and port down to the 360. Resutling in more sales. Do you want to read this a few times before you post again so it goes through your head? do you?

Yeah right? Ur saying make the PS3 version then port down the 360. First off, the 360 couldn't handle MGS4 simply because the 360 cant handle these type of games because it isn't as powerful as the PS3. Second if they even tried to port it and make an inferior version, who the fuck would buy it, the sales would be shit because who the fuck would want to buy a far inferior version of a game that is as big and story centered as MGS4. But whatever MGS4 is old news now.

Look, i really wouldn't care what console GTA 5 goes to because id still buy it, but i and many other people know, that to make the best possible GTA game, u have to put it on the PS3, it cannot be argued. This is simply because the PS3 offers a hella of a lot more in terms of storage and power, it is just fact.

So it really comes down to what does R* want, money or the best possible GTA game, and they can get both on the PS3. And personally id say fuk the share holders, u have enough money so stop bitchin, lets give the fans something and not just a shit GTA game so we can make more money.

LOL dude I stopped reading there, what a load of bullshit. Brainwashed kid ... you're brainwashed.

U name me one game only on 360 that matches the epicness of MGS4? Or in fact any game on 360 that is bigger and better in terms of graphics and length? PS3 is a beast in terms of power and the upcoming games show this, 360 is not as power, just admit it.

I'll let a non biased PS360 owner answer that, never played or seen any PS3 exclusive. Heck havn't even played Gears 2.

You do know the 360 and PS3 are as powerful as each other? One has a better CPU the other has a better GPU or w/e you're just spewing fanboy shit .. like I said braindwashed.

Haha, look who is talking bullshit, u. So what ur saying is and i quote "never played or SEEN any PS3 exclusive", yeah okay. And exactly, u cant name a game on 360 because there isn't one, so leave it to some one else. And if they are as powerful, then why arnt 360 games matching PS3 games in terms of graphics, physics, content etc?

megaman, I don't care for the GTA series too much (though I did buy IV), so I don't really care what platform it's on, but I have to ask you: What's it like living on your planet?

Are you actually insinuating that Rockstar will abandon the platform that made them the most money on their investment on GTAIV just for the benefit of Sony fanboys having bragging rights to a GTA exclusive? You're out of your mind. Do you think Rockstar games is run by a bunch of idiots?

The first thing you need to remember is that as of today, March 1st 2009, the Xbox 360 is the leading HD console by a margin that doesn't appear to be closing no matter what Sony does. It is the platform that sold the most copies of GTAIV and has exclusive DLC that's selling like hotcakes on Xbox Live. If anything, based on facts we have today at this very moment, GTAV is more likely to go Xbox exlusive that Playstation exclusive. If it's "all about the games" then GTA fans won't care which platform it's on as long as they can play it.

This conspiracy theory fanboy speculation BS that you post is absolutely out of control and it's not needed at all.

It can be argued, actually. And here's why:

Hardware specs do not define the amount of fun or experience that can be drawn from a game. Myself I much prefer GTA: Vice City to Grand Theft Auto IV, even though it was produced on a much inferior machine. The limiting factor is instead the minds behind the game, and the processes in which they are poduced.

On topic:

To put the next GTA on only one console would be a disastrous move. Rockstar has already moved from Playstation timed exclusive to console timed exclusive, but all games since GTA 3 have been on multiple consoles and PC. This speaks of a company thinking more about moving the OTHER way.

The sellthrough of GTA is insane, with extremely high attatch ratios. It sells to pretty much everyone, and there are thus very few sales to be gained on one console by making it exclusive to that one. There are on the other hand very many sales to be lost by exclusivity.

Why does exclusives exist, then? Because not all companies face the same situation as Rockstar, have the same resources and connections or share target groups. There are many circumstances that affect such a buisiness decision. For Rockstar, I believe it would be a disastrous move to only put GTA on one platform in todays gaming climate.

+1. To add to this, the PS3 and the 360 have exclusives only to show off differences in value between the two HD consoles. Really, Microsoft has made it hard for new buyers to distinguish between buy a PS3 and a Xbox 360. Exclusives will mainly be 1st party this gen to make the true value come through. Sony cannot depend on 3rd party like they did every single gen before this one.

No 3rd party game with great sales potential will be exclusive in the future. R* would rather have multi disc release of a game, compression, or XBL only release than lose millions of dollars in sales.

I dont think M$ will let that happen GTA5 Will probably be Multi plat because:

1.Rockstar want the extra doe!
2.M$ will fork over a ton of money even if they get downgraded version of the game.
