Anyone have ideas for press releases from Vgchartz? My take is, if we only issue one, it is going to look pretty strange in a little while. So we'll need to release them fairly often... I'd just like to have it based on general milestones: 1) 1/5/10/25/50/100 million in hardware sales. 2) Weekly software sales when a game sells over 1 million units. 3) Market transitions (i.e. if PSP somehow beat DS worldwide in three years, or if PS3 passes 360 in the future) 4) _____ Companies were the Big Winners During the _____ time frame (i.e. "Nintendo's DS was the big winner in holiday 2006 across the world - as the aging PS2 began to see diminshed sales, and the battle between PS3 and Wii was just starting") Well?

I say software milestones would be nice though your numbers haven't been as accurate as the hardware numbers. With so many games coming out this year it would be nice to see how they stack and compare in terms of sales etc. There are also alot of new IP's so would be interesting to see what does well and what doesn't.

In terms of hardware 1/5/10/25/50/100 million in hardware sales I think works pretty good as wii and the 360 head to 15 mil this year and the ps3 should hit 5 mil soon and would be interesting how long untill they can hit 10 as well.

Overral you have the most potential for press releases out of software. You can do it kind of like music where you have albums that go Platinum or gold etc. Can also give a press release with the current top 50 or 100 etc from all consoles or break it down etc. Good luck with this and hopefully others will have more ideas.

Year summary and month summary could be worth one. Maybee also some market analysis.

But i think it should be separated from the news. A press section needs also an free E-Mail notification feature, so interested sites/journalists get the release automatically.

sounds good theSource, but I would not release more. Maybe you should also just release software press releases as a yearly summary or something like that.

So I guess the next press release comes soon, since the DS will have reached 50 million rather quickly.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I say shy away from software, because the software numbers aren't nearly as close in percentage error as the hardware ones are. I think any analysis the collective minds (ioi, mrstickball, TheSource, DKII, etc) make could be put into a press release, as well as showing graphs of the accuracy of VGC vs NPD (NA+Canada), as well as possible reasons why the percentage error was greater during certain months.
