Forums - Gaming - Has The PS3 Already Won The Exclusive Battle?

Self-reassurance thread is self-reassuring.

I fully realize that this is a pointless fanboy bickering thread, but I'd just like to make this observation: if the exclusives on PS3 are so superior, why is it selling the least hardware and software every week? And why have PS3 exclusive games sold so poorly compared to exclusives on the other consoles? Halo, Gears, Mario, and the Wii games are all destroying the PS3-exclusive titles. Either consumers are all idiots with no taste, or the Sony exclusives aren't as great as the original poster is claiming.

 - price of the ps3 is too high for many

- subsequently the ps3 has a smaller install base which leads to smaller sales

- I'd really only say that the 360 is comparable to the ps3 and NOT the wii

nope... PS3 games fails. Microsoft and nintendo got the better exclusives games

The PS3 reminds me of the N64.. Trust me that's a good thing. A console that wasn't the leader that had some of the very best games of the generation. I guess the perception around it too..

That said I prefer the Wii's list of exclusive games. Nothing against the other platforms but I feel like they truly are exclusive in that you can't find experiences like them on the other consoles. That's just my preference, not going off aggregates or anything like that. Just have more fun I guess..

People -- consider the source.

And NO, I don't mean the OP with the PS3 avatar. I mean the PSextreme website that is being quoted.

Of course, we all know that among this generation of consoles, the Wii has the most exclusives. This of course comes from (a) Nintendo's first-party genius and (b) shovelware vendors dumping bad PS2 games to the "GCt(duct-tape)GC" (two Game Cubes duct-taped together).

Seriously though, all the systems this generation have good games. The problem with the PS3 is that it has not yet been able to achieve the reach so that it is widely distributed and enjoyed. For the record, neither it nor the Xbox 360 have yet reached the Atari 2600 distribution of 30M units -- the initial level cutoff for mass market consideration (in my opinion).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Please put their metacritic scores next to all those exclusive PS3 games.
Someone should compile a XBox 360 console exclusive list and we will see which one wins out.

And this dictates quality???  Of course not.  Numerical scores never dictate the quality of a game.  It's about about the gamer's individual preference.  Case in point the original Siren on the PS2 has an average rating of 70%, but the remake on the PS3 is 80%.  But I found that the original Siren was a better game.  One specific point was that the PS3 version was easier which took away some of the atmosphere that made the PS2 version a truer survival/horror game.  Granted this is opinion, gaming preference is all about opinion.  So to hide behind numbers under the false pretense that they represent fact, is a since of rabid fanboyism sheepism that disrespects the fundemental choice and preference that defines gamers.

I haven't experenced many problems with www.psxextreme.com.  Are they biased?  Sure they are to some extent like anyone else.  Buy you know when they are expressing an opinion while not not trying to force it as fact.  Regardless of what position anyone here takes, they should take a page from their book that a person can express an opinion withou forcing it down people's throat while respecting others as well.
