Forums - General Discussion - What is your favorite beer?

Shambolic said:
Becks is what I go for given the choice, nice full bodied clean taste. I've heard from Americans that you have a pretty poor selection of beer available over there. Mind you the UK has its share of poor beers, just got back from the Leeds festival which is sponsored by Carling so I ended up having to have that all weekend.

Leo-j - Just because your teachers tell you a personal opinion about alcohol, and an uninformed one at that, you should wait for personal experience until you form an opinion. They sound like slightly irresponsible teachers to be honest if they are just giving negative blanket statements on a normal part of life. And how many under 18 year olds haven't already got drunk or tried beer?

WTH? So now your saying my health teacher is an il informed person wow.

 LOL!

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Pacifico or Corona, but only 1 or 2 I prefear Rum, specially Bacardi.

i just realised how many typos i made in my first post, and no, i wasnt drunk :)

leo-j, we all know beer isnt good for you, but then alot of things arnt, im sure if you ask an optician he will say you shouldnt sit playing videogames for extended periods. Life would be pretty damn boring if you never do 'bad' things. Drinking beers isnt just about drinking beers, its about socialising, relaxing and having a good time with friends.

The biggest killer in the world is stress, having a beer on a weekend with friends is probably the most common stress relief in the world.

Not necessarily ill-informed, but "alcohol is bad" is an attrocious over-simplification of a complex issue.

How old are you? It's pretty much a universal habit with a lot of things to just tell kids "X is bad, don't do it under any circumstances!!!", and then when they get older their parents will gradually start hinting "you know this one thing is actually not all that bad if you're a responsible adult blah blah".

Obviously this isn't a thread for minors, but that should be pretty evident from the topic.

Leo-j - If your health teacher has been giving you the opinion that caused you to say 'shame on you drinking it' and that if you drink beer than you will die by the time you are 60 then yes they are ill informed. Drinking is an everyday part of life for most people.

Some teachers tell scare stories to put kids off things, sex, drink, drugs etc. but if they are being untruthful then it's counter-productive. Some teachers tell kids that condoms don't work or they teach creationism, so don't take everything they say as the truth. Teachers are there to help you form your own opinions, not force theirs upon you.

from a technical standpoint alcohol (not beer itself) is a drug, but by the legal definition of a drug it isn't.

I'm a fan of Cream ale. It's just got a refreshing quality few beers have. Sleemans Cream ale in particular, though I don't have too much experience with other cream ales.

I'm not a bif fan of the english style thick and chunky bears. Guinnes eats like a meal... ewww...

Guiness is a dry stout, not a beer. And it's Irish, not English.

I usually drink Miller, or straight Vodka.

Stout is a type of beer. As long as it comes from a starch and is not distilled after fermentation it is a beer.

Yea I have an Idea.

Lets all talk about alchohol, and let people that are younger than 18 look at the conversation and try it out!!

(Beer is a drug)

Shame on you people for drinking it.

Yeah, sorry about that, I forgot to turn off the "force minors to do everything that I say in this thread against their will" feature.  Shame on you for pissing on an interesting thread.  :P

I think your health teacher could stand to have a beer.  Might get them to chill out a bit and stop filling their students' heads with this nonsense.

Currently my preference is for Blonde Ales. "Arran Blonde" and "Bitter and Twisted" being the current favourites (both Scottish and not to easy to find outside of the UK).

My favourite bitter is Old Speckled Hen.

I prefer Imperial Souts over Irish Sout but find that both are very filling and hard to drink in large quantaties.

Lagers all taste the same to me but if I had to choose a preference it would be for Messina or Budvar (the real stuff).
