Forums - General Discussion - What is your favorite beer?

I don't have one favorite beer, but I would say that I tend to prefer malty beers like porters and stouts. There's nothing better than a rich, creamy, perfectly carbonated (or nitrogenated) stout to go with a satisfying meal; they can even be used as quick snacks by themselves!  I've recently started brewing my own beer, and I plan to focus on porter and stout, experimenting with the various malts until I come up with something really tasty.

I tend not to like aggressively-hopped beers, but if the blend is right and they don't go too overboard, I like hoppy beers served with spicy food.  A local bar at Virginia Tech has wing night on Wednesdays and Sundays, and the Blue Moon pale ale strikes a good balance with me and helps wash down the hot wings.

So what are your favorite beers?

Red Stripe. Or girl beers like Smirnoff because regular beer tastes like urine. Personally I prefer mixed drinks.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I'm a fan of Cream ale. It's just got a refreshing quality few beers have. Sleemans Cream ale in particular, though I don't have too much experience with other cream ales.

I'm not a bif fan of the english style thick and chunky bears. Guinnes eats like a meal... ewww...

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Hard choice, it really depends on my mood:

Majority of the time: Shiner (hard to get outside of Texas, or cheap outside Texas at least) or Killian's.

When I feel cheap: Miller Light

When I want something dark: Murphy's Stout if they have it otherwise Guiness

Want something spiffy: Sapporro

When I feel cheap: Bud Select or Bud Light and I'm always feeling cheap.

Sam Adams all the way. Also Dominion (in VA - it's cheaper) and Sierra Pale Ale.

Ok, well, that's a tough one because there are a lot of great beers.  For the money, I love Killians on tap.  Great beer for the money and rivals many imports.

If I had to claim a favorite beer and live only with one, I would probably choose Kronenbourg 1664.  It is a french beer that is imported in the U.S. but very, very difficult to find.  On tap it's quite tasty and isn't far behind in bottles.  Try it if you can find it.
