I totally agree. I saw one show from one of the last digimon seasons and I think the humans were digivolving and the digimon companions were just liek comic relief. GAH! Oh man I used to wake up at 6 in the morning to watch digimon, saved by the bell, and recess. Those were the days. |
Same. I loved the first season. Second season was ok too. Man I loved Fox Kids

Can you even compare the two? Which had better games, television series, toys, etc in your opinion? I remember when Pokémon came out and I fell in love. Pokémon Red was my first handheld video game and probably one of my favorite ones. I played the TGC (I still do on occasion! :]), I collected the figurines, toys, etc. I even imported some of the japanese toys. xD
I remeber when Digimon came out and I watched a few episodes. I didn't like it that much. It honestly felt like a Pokémon clone. And the fact that the monsters or whatever they were could speak English sorta bothered me. Idk. I heard the games and TCG were awful. But yeah. I didn't explore it too much because it didn't pull me in at all.
What's your opinion? |
The weird thing is, they also speak German.... must be very intelligent creatures.

Ah.. oh so those Digimon were from a different world then? The plot thickens! :p Didn't even know that. Well I never really watched it, but still. I was really into Pokémon back when the first games came out and followed the tv series quite a lot. Always figured Digimon was some sort of Pokémon-clone franchise. Ah well. Also, TV networks should be sued for breaking off a hideously popular series and then starting anew again at some random point earlier in the series! D:< Can't even begin to remember how many times they did that with Pokémon and Dragonball Z and the likes. Come on, after like 250 episodes, near some climax in the storyline you don't just go like 'oh you know what? Let's just go back to episode 17 and take it from there'. It's just wrong.

Dude, I know what you mean I remember when they just introduced Trunks for the first time in DBZ after seeing him turn super sayian I was so pumped for the next episode. To my bitter realisation they just started from episode 1 again, then I had to wait for 4 months to see that episode.

btw, those who think digimon is a childish, pointless, pokemon rip-off.....it's not! not even close
digimon has deep story, it's based on feeling mostly, builts up relationships throughout the story
the ending was awesome, when everyone married and stuff : P
but i have to say that the digimon anime quality is less in english, they removed the great opening theme, the epic music and they made it a bit cheap, like saying jokes when they were going to die and stuff, if you see japanese with english sub it's awesome
monster design is equal i can say, but angemon is the best ever i remember
the only way to bring back pokemon anime is to start over with another hero, btw, Ash must be 20+ by now : P
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I remember watching it in the USA and saying:Wow, what a crap opening; Here in latin america they kept the original opening just changed the lyrics and the song was awesome. Same thing in the US with shaman king and dragon ball I think, the times Ive been there and watched cartoons on the TV werent much though.
Its way better than pokemon though.

You cannot beat the engaging story of a young man (or woman) embarking on a new journey to better not only him or herself as both a Pokemon Trainer and a human being, but also the Pokemon world around him. With breath-taking visuals and a heart-warming story, there is truly nothing quite like Pokemon, perhaps the greatest gaming franchise that has ever graced any gaming console. To this day, I remain thankful for Satoshi Tajiri and Nintendo - I can't even imagine a life without Pokémon.

The one thing that has always made me sad is that there was a monster-based anime that was better than Pokemon and Digimon put together but sadly it suffered from poor games.
