awful wii mote controls (although some do like these controls for some reason)

You take a random person off the street they will understand how to play CoD Wii or PC, why? Because they use intuitive controls, stuff that people don't have to "learn" instead the rely on the way the brain works already, we know how to point pretty well- it is hardwired. You give that same person a controller with 2 sticks and 10 buttons and you will watch the give up in frustration pretty quickly.

Ahh but this is where you may be wrong! wouldn't most people think the wiimote was a stick and just throw it?!

No, they would think it's a remote.

Yeah because that's what they do to TV remotes too, right?

They are losing me too, I can't believe I just said that.

Do you want to know what consoles are hooked up to my TV right now? an Xbox360, a PS3, Snes and my ever trusty N64 (

That's what you get for naming your Wii after a talentless slut.

Do you want to know what consoles are hooked up to my TV right now? an Xbox360, a PS3, Snes and my ever trusty N64 (<3). I haven't had my wii set up in at least 2 months. last time I played on it was at christmas when the family were playing wii fit.

Do you know what the problem is? Nintendo have forsaken it's fans. They have gone to the mass market over the existing fanbase. They don't see F-Zero/Pilotwings and the like to be worth developing because wii play and carnival games sells so well.

Please ninty, release a good Pilotiwngs game and for gods sake please don't fuck up pikmin 3

Again with this. Where's the proof that they've foresaken their fans? They've had all their studios working, and have put out outstanding iterations of all their top franchises. It certainly feels like there has been a dearth of top-quality games, but thats more a matter of poor planning than an underutilization of resources. What could they be doing further that they aren't doing now?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

You are one of the most fortunate people in this generation as you get to enjoy games on every console. Instead of being sad for your Wii, pay attention to the games you want and just ignore what platform they're for.

To tell the truth out of their top franchises only SMG was outstanding... TP was good, but basically a rehashed OOT for the GC. Brawl and MK were hardly different or better than the GC versions that you could keep playing on your Wii, and I greatly prefer Metroid Prime to MP3 (pacing, atmosphere, challenge).

Overall it all seems a bit formulaic, though they are still good games.

Well yes, but I was thinking more about the very basic human intuition of hand eye coordination. The more layers of abstraction you add the more "learning" is involved. The mouse is somewhat intuitive because it has a large space of movement, provides extreme accuracy. The mouse also has the advantage of a huge base of pre-trained people.

The Wiimote relies on  the ability to point at an object in the most rudimentary way. Every time you reach for a glass of beer, or to flush the toilet you are unknowingly training this sense. In fact nearly every physical interaction in our lives is a manifestation of hand-eye coordination. Yes even that...
