It certainly feels like there has been a dearth of top-quality games, but thats more a matter of poor planning than an underutilization of resources. To tell the truth out of their top franchises only SMG was outstanding... TP was good, but basically a rehashed OOT for the GC. Brawl and MK were hardly different or better than the GC versions that you could keep playing on your Wii, and I greatly prefer Metroid Prime to MP3 (pacing, atmosphere,challenge).
Overall it all seems a bit formulaic, though they are still good games.
