FFX wasn't my cup of tea(never finished it) so I can't comment on that, but you can't go wrong with Tales of the Abyss.

I checked the store and found Kingdom Hearts in the bargain bin so I got that one. I'll look for Final Fantasy X after I play this for a bit and see if I like it.

Plz explain How KH is an RPG series??? Then GOW series is an RPG too?

I'd recommend Legend of Dragoon [if you can find it]. It's a PSOne game though.

FFX is the best newbie RPG I've ever played. It's plot sucks you in quickly, the terrain is beautiful, and the combat system is well explained and easy to pickup.

If you want something accessible, you don't get much more accessible than Ar tonelico. Unfortunately, you don't get much harder to find than Ar tonelico either. It's also worth noting that the series is, shall we say, not for everyone: the music is awesome and the setting is amazing, but the script is chock-full of innuendo which the translators unfortunately treated as a big joke.

Final Fantasy X is a good place to start because it's easy to get into, and it's an excellent game.

After that, you can try best RPGs for the PS2:
-Persona 3 and 4
-Suikoden III and V
-Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
-Xenosaga
-Star Ocean 3

Best start...? FFX definitely. That was my first RPG, now I can't stop playing the genre. ^_^ If you still love it, I'd recommend Persona 3 and 4. If only one of those, pick 4.

chrono cross is the best RPG ive ever played. it is on the PS1, but i still pick it up and play ever year or 2. FFX is a solid choice as well
